Sailor Senshi and Guardian knights.

Sailor Senshi and Guardian Knights are rare individuals who have a unique connection to a celestial body in the Sol System. This connection allows them to tap into incredibly power that draws on both the elements and aspects of the human heart to protect innocent life and drive evil from their homes.

Why exactly certain people are chosen to become Sailor Senshi or Guardian Knights is unknown. Further, the Guardian Knights did not exist during the time of the Moon Kingdom in the past forgotten by history. At some point, the planetary powers were divided between a male and female ego, resulting in a situation where two guardians can represent a given planet.

Each Senshi and Knight possess what is known as a 'henshin item' that allows them to embrace their powers and turn into a Sailor Senshi or Guardian Knight with their full host of powers available to them. Some individuals might exhibit slight supernatural ability outside of their combat form, but usually powers are only usable in their transformed state.

Each planet typically hosts two or three related elements and one of the positive and negative aspects of the human heart. Generally they are separate elements from one another, though on occasion two planets may host related elements such as Neptune and Mercury having influence over water.

Animal Guardians.

The animal guardians acted as advisers to the senshi of the Silver Millennium.  They have returned, fulfilling the same role as they did before and giving their insights to the senshi and knights of this generation.

The animal guardians can sense trouble on the horizon.  The Covenant of Nihil grows in power with each passing day.  Storm clouds are coming in, and if the Covenant isn't stopped, all of humanity might be at risk.

Each animal guardian is attached to a certain planet.  While they offer their support to all guardians, their primary job is to assist their planet's senshi and knights.  They can not help too much in combat, but they are all full of insights as well as other skills.

Covenant of Nihil.

Among mankind, there are few words that can inspire fear and anxiety like 'Covenant of the Nihil'.

When the Obelisks started to spring up throughout the world, the populace within their area of effect began to feel lethargic and depressed. Eventually the worst cases began to have a fixation with the structures, watching from afar past the military barricades that kept the public at bay.

Eventually, the worst cases began to mutate. Their skins would distort, flesh would quiver and change....but most disturbingly they were capable of unnatural feats.

Stronger figures would begin to appear, their minds warped but more intact, they began to organize unified in their fixation with the Obelisks.

The leader is a woman named Virgo. A maiden in black whom has been seen by very few, she is the voice of prophecy within the Covenant. Her powers are unknown, but they are assumed to be one of it not the greatest of the Covenant. Her capability to speak to the mind of each corrupted individual grows with the corruption, starting out as a vague whisper growing into an alluring and compelling voice.

Youma.

Youma are the day to day antagonists that characters will face most often on Celestial Destiny. They are sentient beings whom originate from beyond the normal scope of reality that feed off the emotional energy of living beings. While they can and often do feed off negative energy, they are inherently drawn to individuals emitting positive energy that is typically associated with feelings of productivity, accomplishment, love, pride, and other states of mind that are typically considered positive. As the youma feeds upon the energy of it's victim, the victim will feel lethargic and eventually fall asleep. Should a youma chose to continue drain at this point, the victim will die.

Aside from the need to collect and gain energy for it's life force and evolution, the youma is also capable of harnessing energy not known to humanity known as 'Chaos Energy' to fuel supernatural abilities. The individual abilities vary from youma to youma, and few things in imagination are beyond the grasp of a youma whom evolves enough. Everything from releasing fireballs, to turning victims to stone or other objects, to growing unnaturally in size, to causing earthquakes, the powers of youma are terrifying and hard to defend against with normal human means.

Individually, youma are usually humanoid in shape with great variation in appearance. Their skin can be any color and texture, along with their hair, eyes, and nearly any other feature. Their anatomy can also deviate substantially from what is considered human in the form of tails, extra limbs, multiple heads, metallic skin, and many other feature. In short, youma are often the embodiment of what humans consider monsters.

Further, most youma can disguise their true forms as otherwise normal looking humans, though this disguise is ineffective if the youma's inherent personality deviates too far from what is considered 'normal'.

Zodiac.

The Zodiac are the leadership of the Covenant of Nihil.  These are the Covenant members with the most power.  Some claim to hail from an era long before recorded record.  Others are only as old as the modern age.  All serve Virgo, who sits at the head, and follow her wishes.

The Zodiac are diverse in personality, life history, goals, and desire.  There isn't much of a common thread between them other than their commitment to the Covenant.  

No one is quite sure what the Zodiac members look like.  They tend not to hang around the rank and file much, and generally do not make themselves known to the public.

Civilians.

This everyone else that exists in the world.  They make up the bulk of the people living on planet Earth.  Civilians in Celestial Destiny are much like civilians now.  Technology has advanced some.  However, most are ignorant of magic.  There are some few who can tap into the powers that the Silver Millennium was known for, but these people are few and far between.
