The labs were a somber place after Dr. Matou, now known as Libra, came clean and the reality of the situation was that the Science and Research teams had been manipulated by the enemy for so very long. Technical analysts were still trying to find a way to break into Libra's personal files to garner whatever information they could. General Masuou has had recon teams scouting out the facilities that Libra could be holed up in, and the other Matou loyalists have been put into the brig for interrogation and threat assessment.

The remaining staff, a number just shy of a hundred, were asked to meet in the conference room bright and early by the newly appointed Director Tanaka. As the assembly is filled, Dr. Tanaka takes the stage looking noticeably more professional and cleaner than he used to be with a pristine black suit under his new lab coat. As he takes the stage, he looks out at the stage and takes a deep breath.

"Good Morning.

As you all know, our former director has been revealed to be a traitor from the start...he..." Dr. Tanaka starts, as he sighs and then drops the cue cards that he had held.

"...Screw the formality, he's a bastard and the top of my shit list. He's made the rest of us look like fools, hindered the advancement of our military and medical technologies, and probably siphoned out who knows how much data and intelligence about the JSDF." he says as he clenches the side of the podium.

"Those who are here are those who have been constantly ridiculed and suppressed by his megalomania...his way of controlling how in the dark we've been the whole time. All of that ends now...we have eight years of development to catch up on, and if Libra's ramblings are to be believed we have a hard road ahead of us with the Covenant moving in on us. " he says as he pulls up a map showing the Sapporo Obelisk, the Naval Line, and the mainland of Japan.

"I will try to keep you all here for a little time as possible, because the tasks ahead of us will be the greatest endeavor any of us will undertake. When the Covenant marches, they will come hard and fast. The General is preparing his forces, but with tech that's eight years behind prospects don't look promising. Kaneko is cranking out SHOGUN units as fast as his facilities can allow, but a few hundred of those against a full blown attack will only go but so far...which is why we need each and every one of you here." he says as he changes the slide to a picture of the white crystal Ashley and Taika were familiar with along with a chemical analysis of it.

"This substance, which has no current name and I have no right to give it one, is our once chance to make up for lost time. For some reason, it emits a wavelength that weakens anyone with Covenant paranormal powers and incapacitates them. Dr. Zelpher has also formed a promising beam prototype test with it. It is our duty to figure out how to coax this into synthesis of more material along with figuring out the best approach for the current supply on hand...infantry weapons, vehicle weapons, devices, whatever it takes...I want ideas." he says as he adjusts his glasses.

"You know...half of you are probably smarter than me...I think Ito gave me the job because he knew he needed the smart ones actually doing lab work and not new...more comprehensive protocol and paperwork..." he says, referring to the imposed new control measures the JSDF has put on the labs in the wake of Libra's betrayal. A few laugh at the self-depreciating humor, as Tanaka gains his breath.

"To that extent...I have some reassignments... Dr. Zelpher is now the head of Engineering replacing the figurehead Matou installed. Dr. Laukkanen is also the head of biological research, replacing the role I have vacated in my own promotion..." he says as the next few minutes were occupied by other promotions of sectors and teams. At the end of it, Tanaka looks out.

"Everyone in this room will be critical to the survival of the Japanese and the human race. I am open to any and all suggestions that can help the cause. Matou and the rest who turned their backs on humanity will brought to justice and the sun will rise again. Keep this thought in your minds, and your hearts as you labor in the days and weeks to come. No matter how hard it seems we have to be persistent in our end goal."

Ashley had slightly cleaned himself up a bit for the meeting and was silently watching and had some materials on him. He smirks slightly when Tanaka had spoke on forgoing the formalities with mentioning Rishijo Matou. His looks harden slightly as he knew now that things were going to be hard. To make up for lost time against the covenant but with Libra's taunt inside his mind. It seemed almost a impossible goal to meet but Ashley was going to do his damn best on this to at least sink there claws of victory on the covenant. The brownhaired male was more then willing to now get his own vengeance on the man himself. As Libra and the unknown covenant that took down his country were on his high level of probability of people he wanted to kill. He then hears his name being mentioned and felt all eyes on him on the matter of beam weaponry. He was not use to getting appreciation from the lab due to Libra's control. Then with Tanaka ending his speech Ashley gets up and walks over to the mic.

"Greetings to everyone here, I'm Dr.Zelpher. I would like to at least share some of my research that I have on this unknown material. For right now I am dubbing it Magicite. As said by Director Tanaka this crystal creates a energy field that causes harm to the covenant. Form what I understand from eye whitness accounts is that during the Class V battle. That the Sailor Senshi and there Knights had combined there powers into defeating the enemy. After there combined attack it seems that some kind of overflow of energy crystalized forming this material. Now, as of right now I do have a perposed theory on perhaps making more Magicite. Instead of waiting around for the Sailor Senshi and hope to god that they magicly nuke a covenant " he said and then brings up some data and a few pictures to give a better visual understanding for everyone.

"Anyway, here is the theory that I have. As we may know crystals are grown deep within the earth. Now in some labs, these crystals can be artificaly be grown. Since the Magicite is a crystal, my idea is to do the same prosess but with a slight twist. Last month I had encountered two Sailor Senshi. Now they had destroyed a Class IV Covenant that was made out of ice. Now I was able to save a large chunk of it and is still in storage. And without a shadow of a doubt its still the same piece. Anyway, I would like to use half of this and some materials that were corrupted by the covenant. Put them together along with the rest of the crystals that we have. This may burn some our resources but I think this can work. If someone has a better idea speak up now. Since that asshat Matou is not here anymore, you all can challenge this. Without fearing retribution or ridaclue from others " he said opening the stage up for someone to question his theory or his plan.

Taika takes a look at the room at the remaining staff. With a team this small, she couldn’t help but feel somewhat discouraged about the fate of the world and humanity. She takes a seat next to Ash. She’s clean and nicely dressed, but the bags under her eyes make her look haggard.

She can’t help but smile as Dr. Tanaka drops the cue cards. It was nice to hear some honesty for once. Something that hadn’t happened in the last 8 years. Even if they were behind, she feels somewhat better about the change of pace. At least, they were on the right track now.

When it is Taika’s turn, she takes the mic from Ash. “Hello everyone. I am Dr. Taika Laukkanen. First off, I would like to say that I am happy to see all of you. I know there are not many of us, but I don’t think I could be more grateful for the team of experts that stand before me. We’ve all been through a lot of hardship together, and I’m sure many of us felt unsure of the future when it was revealed that we had been working under Libra for the last 8 years. However, I’ve met many of you and seen your work. We won’t let the setbacks continue us from moving forward now. You are all devoted to your work and the progress of humanity. And it is time that we take back everything that has been taken from us during these years.”

“The crystals… I’ll keep it simple since we all come from different departments. Magicite, as my colleague Dr. Zelpher has chosen to call it, is the only substance that we know of that can target corrupted tissues, reversing the damage caused. While this has been yet to be tested extensively on mammalian specimens, it has been very effective and reliable in smaller in vitro studies.”

“I know that this all sounds rather outlandish, but I have data that I can show to backup these claims. And I plan to continue studying the effects into the near future. I think we have a pretty good shot here.”
