Lance only catches the tail end of Sophia and Hanahi's conversation and when asked about what superpower he would want he gives it some thought. "I think I would want infinite money. Is that allowed?" He asks, he recalls hearing something about a guy who had that as a superpower in a comic book and it seemed pretty much awesome to him. "I suppose baring that I'd like the ability to teleport." He says giving a more generic second answer.

As they enter the room several drinks are brought in. Several looked to be fruity juice. There was also a beer and a couple of teas. He moves two of the fruity drinks and the bear to one side of the table. "These are alcoholic. I'm not going to say if you can have them or not, but be aware of it." He lets them know and then begins surfing through the song list.

He ends up on American war songs and starts scanning the options. "Hanahi it sounded like you wanted to go first?"

"No, it's not, allowed." She replied sicintly to his question of if infinite money was allowed. "And what do you think money is that any one person could have an infinite amount?"

When it's suggested that she goes first she freezes, and then grabs Sophia's arm. "Duet?" She asks, not being sure how this works.

“Maybe like the power to get sudden windfalls of money. That’s kind of like having infinite money,” Sophia offers. “However, teleportation is pretty cool.” She’s not sure if it is the truth, but it hardly mattered anyways.

“Thanks,” Sophia says, giving a look at one of the fruity drinks before picking it up. The taste of alcohol is masked by other flavors. It wasn’t too bad in her opinion. She manages to finish it pretty quickly while looking in through the songs. Well, she didn’t exactly feel anything yet.

“Of course!” she says when Hanahi asks for a duet. She flips through the lists of songs before laughing and settling on one. “Alright. You’re Mercury and I’m Bowie.” She passes Hanahi a mic as “Under Pressure” comes on.

"Money is a necessary part of any semi respectable life in a city." He replies simply he had spent far to long without any of it to buy into the argument that money can't buy you happiness. It buys you food and that is a pretty big happiness if he ever saw one. "Well in that case teleportation'd work fine." He grumbled, well at least he could use that to make cash.

As Lance watched her pick up one of the alcoholic drinks and down it in several quick gulps his eyes narrowed a bit. "Hey hey kid you're gonna end up drinking yourself under if you do chug it like that." He scolds with a sour expression. Though he had provided it so he supposed it was partially his fault.

When the two prepared to sing he realized he forgot to ask if either was any good, but he shrugged and supposed he'd find out in a second or two.

With Sophia taking the lead Hanahi followed downing the entierty of her drink as well. Once it was all gone, she examined the glass, it had seemed like there was alcohol but with all the sugar in it, she could hardly tell, it was such an unfortunately girly drink. "Disappointing" She muttered the words to herself. She glanced at what he was drinking, it had crossed her mind to ask him to give her what he was drinking, but when she remembered the beer that was there, she let the idea go, and figured at the very least she got an overly sweet drink meant for little girls.

She playfully stuck out her tongue at Lance when he warned them of getting drunk.

When the music starts Hanahi swallows hard and as the prompter starts to highlight her words she starts to sing her part. She's noticibly late to sing her part, less than a second but it's clear to anyone who knows the song, or can just follow the beat of the music. Her singing isn't technically bad, but she's in the wrong key, instead of a C she's singing in an F key, though she hasn't noticed yet.

“Disappointing? I thought it tasted good,” Sophia says to Hanahi. However, it was enough sugar to put a hummingbird into a diabetic coma. “Were you looking for something stronger? Manlier?” She asks, pounding her chest. She looks at Lance sheepishly as he scolds her. “Ok, I slow down, but I’m feeling fine right now,” Sophia says, trying to put Lance at ease. She only felt slightly tingly as she got stage. But that could just be the feeling of performing.

Sophia’s voice is intermediate in pitch, but edging toward the low end. Mezzo-soprano, nearing contralto. The slight base gives her voice a smokey quality. Her vocal training is obvious as she seems to have a great deal of vocal control. All notes are on key. As for timing, Sophia knows the song well, and doesn’t even really look at the screen. Instead, she sings to Hanahi. She backs up for Bowie’s verse, taking center stage, looking down, singing, “It’s the terror of knowing what this world is about. Watching some good friends, scream,” She goes back to Hanahi for the next line that they sing together: “Let me out.” She takes Hanahi’s hands for the final verse when it comes to “This is our last dance.”

As Lance watched the two of them drink he was struck by a sudden sense of foreboding...this was not going to end well. "What the hell?" he mumbled to himself and bottom upped his beer, he'd worry about it later. As the song began he watched curiously and then thought to himself that if they were going to be singing and staying up that he was pretty hungry.

He used the phone in the room to call the desk and ask them to bring a couple of straight shots of alcohol, maybe something that tasted like burning tree bark would prevent Sophia from drinking too much. He watches the pair perform with a small smile. Well at least everything was in good fun. He continues to look through the book until he stumbles upon the old US Paratrooper song. He blinks a couple of times and figures he'd probably want to sing this at some point.

Though he returns his attention to the pair that were singing. They were pretty good. That Hanahi girl seemed nervous but overall it was not as bad as he had wondered.

"I suppose I should have expected it from someone in the arts program." He muses at Sophia.

With the end of the song Hanahi let out a large sigh, glad the the whole thing was over, it had been one of the scariest things she had done in a long while, running through backwards full of barking dogs was nothing, but this practically had her shaking. Letting go of Sophia's hand and walked over to lance handing him the mic she had.
"The two of you should do a duet now!" A large smile was plastered over her face as she said that. The idea of it was just so cute to her, a girl getting to sing with her boyfriend at karaoke was one of the best things that at the moment Hanahi could even imagine.

Once she had successfully pushed the mic into his hands, or lap for that matter, she sat down on the couch about three body widths away from him. She plucked up one of the shots from the table, and brought it to her nose. She could smell the ethanol in it, she took a sip of it, and felt the burning in her mouth, followed by a tingling running up and down her spine, and finally as she held the liquid in her mouth she could feel her eyes start to water when she finally swallowed it. She curdled her legs underneath herself to watch the next song. All the while keeping her small drink close to her chest.

Sophia gives a bow at the end of the song. She smiles at the compliment, “Thanks. I’m only alright though. Not professional level yet. Anyways, it’s kind of nice to not sing the same songs that I sing every day for once.” She looks over to Hanahi, “And you’re tons of fun to sing with. Ever think of joining the arts program?”

“I’m up for a duet if Lance is.” She still feels tingly as she takes the next drink in hand. Ok, this one slower. The first taste isn’t so much a taste as it is a sensation of burning, and she ends up coughing. Everything was always fire and burning, she thinks, rubbing the hidden scar across her chest a little. “People drink this slowly?” she asks. She knocks it back faster. Drinking slow be damned.

Again, she doesn't feel it immediately, other than the sensation that the world got a lot warmer. Holding on to her mic, she looks to Lance. “Alright, duet or solo piece?”

Lance looks at the large smile plastered on Hanahi's face and says "I think you are misunderstanding something missy. Sophia and I are not a thing." he says then deciding that he should probably carify that statement he says "I mean we are not dating."

He picks up one of the non-alcoholic drinks and begins to drink it, he was the designated driver after all and he was not going to let something go to waste after he'd bought it. Though as he watches the girl curl up in the corner he can't help but wonder what this was all about. At least she was pacing herself, though when Sophia suddenly downed a shot he sighed at his plan backfiring. "Sophia, are you trying to get hammered?" he asks her.

Then he looks at the book and shrugs, he supposed he could sing some of this stuff later. "Fine, fine what do you want to sing?" he grumbles as he gets to his feet.

As Lance protested the idea that Hanahi thought he and Sophia were dating, she gave him a coy smile and nodded adding a simple "Okay." Hanahi knew what this was about, Sophia's father was military, and he probably didn't like the idea of his little girl dating some boy. She took another sip on her shot, holding the burning liquid in her mouth.

Hanahi thought about Sophia's question about how people drink their drink. "I don't judge how other people want to have their drink."

As Hanahi finished her drink Lance asked what the two of them should sing, and without thinking there was only one answer that simply must be said. "Wind Beneath My Wings!" The words were more of a cheer than a shout. She was holding one of the non-alcoholic drinks to her face to cover the smile that was plastered on there after she had shouted the title of the song, wondering just how much of a glare she'd get from the two.

Sophia blushes as Lance clarifies their relationship. She kind of wishes she didn’t drink the shot so quick so she had something to do with hands. “We really aren’t, Hanahi,” she says, spotting her coy smile now. “I mean, I haven’t even been asked before. More things on the bucket list to go unfulfilled…”

She looks at the empty shot glass. “No, but that is impossible to drink slowly. Hanahi, I don’t know how you do it,” Sophia says looking at the girl on the couch. In truth, she wouldn’t exactly mind getting drunk. People pass out when their drunk. She might actually sleep for a full night since this week began instead of staying awake wondering what day the world would fall apart. Whether she would have to fight her friends. Whether people she loved died.

The embarrassed look comes back as Hanahi makes a song request. “I mean I do like doing song requests. You can sing by yourself though. It looks like you had something in mind,” she says, pointing to the song list. Military songs. “I only know the Marine’s Hymn, Anchor’s Aweigh, and The Caisson Song.” She is gradually feeling more lightheaded. That was new...

Lance can't help but be impressed by how stubbornly Hanahi seemed to be committed to Sophia and he dating. Sophia was his friend...probably his only one. Though when Hanahi talked about how to drink he nods his head seriously. "Yes, one's drinking style is their own. It tells you a lot about them. For instance Hanahi's suggest that she is someone who has spent a lot of time around adults, mine suggests that I am old beyond my years, and Sophia's suggests...that she's a lush." he says attempting for possibly the first time since they've known each other to make a joke that was not gallows humor.

Lance was feeling the drink he had as well, though not a whole lot, but enough to loosen up a bit and stop focusing of violence and self loathing long enough to actually try to interact with those around him. Though what he saw was too people who really needed this and a chance to cut loose. He decided that he would let them do what they wanted and he'd deal with the consequences, besides spending time with people like this...was nice.

As he sees Sophia's introspective expression he reaches out and covers her eyes with his hand and then begins to tap his foot to the song he started. "I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind.~ I left my body lying somewhere in the sands of time.~ I watched the world float to the dark side of the Moon.~" He begins to sing and as he does he lets out another first.

Lance's emotion control activates and a sense of camaraderie, harmony and reassurance flow into Sophia. Then he smiled and spun her around and gave her a gentle push onto Hanahi. Well if she was going to give that knowing grin she could get in on the fun.

Hanahi couldn't help but laugh when suddenly she found Sophia in her lap, partly from surprise, partly from enjoying the entire situations. A cute girl, and even cuter boy and plenty to drink. "Are you sure you wouldn't rather be in my place?" As she asked she pulled on Sophia's shirt, just enough to expose a strip of skin slightly wider than Hanahi's own hand. She placed one of her hands on that patch of newly exposed skin, while her other hand grabbed one of Sophia's hands, as Hanahi tried, and largely failed at, looking sexy.

“Hey, I’m allowed to enjoy myself a little,” Sophia says, starting to get pouty. However, a few seconds go by, and then she tilts her head, before starting to smile widely. “Wait… did you just… did you just tell a joke?” She doesn’t really expect Lance to reach out to her and cover her eyes. She knew the song as she hears it start. Now she was grinning. It wasn’t often that she got to have a good time like this. The school dance got a little messy at some points. And she doesn’t think she’s ever since Lance playful like this.

As she is pushed onto Hanahi, she embraces the other girl. Sophia then realizes Hanahi is extremely huggable. She looks content to cling to Hanahi indefinitely. She blushes as Hanahi touches an exposed part of skin, but rests her head on Hanahi’s neck, still smiling. “Hmmm… well, we could go hang at your place unless it is a graveyard. However, the booze and singing is here. This is my best night out in a long time… I can’t believe we didn’t meet earlier. I’m kind of glad I tripped over you this morning.”
