Home had become oddly tense when she was around the house after meeting the President. Awkward meeting as it was. Thankfully, Sophia wasn’t around the house all that often. However, she would have liked to be a little less busy.

There was something her dad was leaving unspoken though. It’s not like she could fault him. There were many, many large details of her life that she hadn’t talked about. Still, the amount of secrecy in the house was becoming a little unbearable.

How does one even approach a conversation like this? She walks over to her father’s office and leans against the door frame, but she doesn’t say anything for a few moments. There’s an oddly neutral expression on her face as she carefully chooses what the next thing she wants to say is.

“Dad, I get the feeling… that we’re both not discussing things with each other for, what I assume, to be a variety of very big reasons. I know you said I wasn’t in trouble, but I get the impression you’re unhappy with me… or something.” She rubs the back of her head, “I really miss things being less tense at home.”

Colonel Torres was looking over some paperwork when Sophia made her presence known to him. The hard faced Colonel blinks, puts the paper down, and sighs just a little. Things had certainly gotten a little more tense as Sophia had noticed: the Colonel had been at a loss on what to do. In his gut, he was almost certain that Sophia knew more than she was telling about the 'empowered activists', but as a father he didn't want to put his child in any kind of extended danger, even if they could somehow bring a swift end to this horrible war.

"Enter" he says gruffly, putting his paperwork aside, then turning in his swivel chair to face his child when she entered. As she enters, he rubs his buzz-cut hair a little and then leans back.

"Sophia, as a high ranking officer, it is my duty to seek any advantage for the United States against her enemies and do everything in my power to protect her. As a father, it is my duty to protect my daughter at all costs. I believe that in this whole...supernatural teenager...thing, there is more that you know than you've let on. While I understand that being pulled to meet a national leader is terrifying in more ways than one, it's in my eyes highly likely I have a conflict of interests." he says calmly, leaning in a little and smiling softly.

"It's not so much that I am upset with you, more that I am upset with the situation. I care for your well being foremost."

Sophia sighs. It was a little hard to go about this whole thing without being super suspicious. Of course, there was the option of admitting to nothing, but it was a little late for that now. Maybe she could try to pass it off as something else.

“I know the identities of some people who I assume to be wanted by the JSDF… And I care about them a lot. I just don’t want to see them hurt, especially by my own country.”

She rubs her left arm, still leaning against the wall. “I’ve never been as tough as you and mom. And I can barely do 10 push-ups. Besides… I can barely watch a scary movie without closing my eyes through most of it, let alone go into a war. Do you really think I would, or even could, get involved in a group like that?”

She smiles at her dad, “I’m pretty sure Gabriel is the only one of your children who would be really talented at that sort of thing. Well, maybe Nico, but he’d need some more time.”

As Sophia admitted that she knew the identities, his frown hardened for a moment, before it softened to an expression of understanding. The internal conflict between the duties of a father and a commander were raging obviously in his head. He pauses and then folds his fist and holds his head up with it leaning towards the desk.

"The United States has no interest in harming these people. They have a unique ability to eliminate the Covenant, why would we want to jeopardize that? It's been the most difficult thing to accept in this new age that 'magic' in some form exists, and the fact we have no ability to use it, so the fact that anyone can turn it back against them is a boon for humanity, even if the Japanese are xenophobic about it." he says calmly with the practiced straightforwardness anyone in American command would be expected to have. When Sophia asked if he thought she could handle it, he chuckled a little.

"Being in a position to make a difference makes you do things you don't think you can do. Physical strength is in everyone if they only work for it. Plus that whole magic thing I don't know if the body would be a factor, even if you were in it." he says, rubbing his head a little, before chuckling slightly.

"Gabriel has been an inspiration, worries the hell out of me sometimes, but he's done his country proud." he admits, showing pride to his son who was holding his own in America.

Sophia nods when her father talks about the eldest. He was always a bit of a role model to aspire to. Now more than ever for her. Even if she had more in the way of ability, he still seemed infinitely more capable.

“Rest assured, dad,” Sophia says, “your wimpy daughter continues to be pretty wimpy.” It was sort of the truth even with the superpowers. She mostly acted in a support role.

“Name a time and a place, and I’ll try to make sure that they get there… or at least a few of them. Or if you get an area before the JSDF, I’m sure they’d be willing to discuss things already. But meeting somewhere public will tend to be a little difficult for them.”

She laughs, “Don’t use the words ‘boon to humanity’ though. It may go to some of their heads. A few of them have big enough egos as it is.”

"You should never think of yourself as wimpy. Even if you aren't the physically inclined type, you have many strengths: your mind, your compassion, you have a lot of capabilities that are enviable to some others." The Colonel says patting his daughter on the head after walking by her and looking out a window into the endless snow, staring out at it.

Of course, the conversation takes an interesting turn when Sophia said she would 'make sure' that the supernaturally inclined would meet at a time and place. He closes his eyes, wondering exactly what that meant and to what extent his daughter was involved, before he turns back to Sophia.

"Then they will meet on the American Base. I will contact the President and figure out how his contact wants to go about it." he says, before walking back over to his desk with a firm expression on his face. Even if his daughter was doing her part to make things better (more than he could know), the parent in him didn't like any involvement.
