At Ashley Zelpher's residence, he would hear a rapt knocking on his door. When he eventually gets to the door, he will find Lieutenant Kurio Saeki outside wearing a black trenchcoat as usual over his military uniform. His eyes shift around while waiting for the door. He had something to speak the scientist about, since he seemed to be on of the few, levelheaded ones out there.

Ashley gets stops from eating something and went to the door to see who it was. To his surprise he sees Kurio there at his door. "Please come in, if its this early then you have something rather important to talk about" he said and starts to pour a rather large mug of coffee for the Lieutenant. Figuring that the man would like to be out of the cold of the outside. He then goes to the hallway and yells in german to his sister about company. "If you feel more comfortable we can go to my workshop and talk here" he said walking over handing a mug to Kurio. Showing so hospitality to the man.

"...Zelpher, tell me something. Are you on the level about Doctor McNuttyPantsen?" he says, checking behind him before entering the room. As he enters the room, hearing some gibberish in another language from Zelpher to a girlfriend or relative or something, Saeki didn't know nor cared really. As Zelpher comes back with the coffee, Saeki looks at it for a moment, then reluctantly accepts it sniffing it a little before sipping it, then setting it on the table, looking out the window again.
"...Dunno if you are aware, but yesterday, a big battle broke out in Shinjuku. A zodiac appeared...Scorpio they said. Your mystical girl scout brigade was there and well, the end result is a dead Zodiac.." he says, letting it sink in to Zelpher's ears what precisely that meant. Saeki then shifts his eyes to a window, before looking back at Zelpher.
"...One of them transported my squad a few miles outside of the city and we had to walk back...one of them is on my 'to shoot' list along with the one that throws rocks." he grumbles, irritated, before he then reaches into his coat and pulls out a wrapped up object, putting it on Zelpher's table.
"When I got back, I found the Tin Can Clan removing the body and frantically gathering up white shards on the ground...I was ordered back to base by my Captain at that point, but what I want to know is what exactly it is they are looking for...the Tin Can Clan usually only does shady shit that Matou wants..." he says, then looking at the object on the table.
"..Before I got warped like Scotty, I managed to grab one...what the hell is it?" he says, looking at the table. When Ashley inevitably opens the paper, he will find a shard, fifty times larger than the slivers that he saw in the lockbox before.

Ashley nods on the name that he gave to Rishijo "Yeah I don't BS crap on that" he said and poured himself another cup of coffee. He then hears the rest of what the lieutenant was saying to him. A bomb dropped on him after hearing a Zodiac or class V Covenant appeared and the sailor senshi group defeating it. That put the fear of god into him and then he sees an item being placed on to the table. This got his attention, until Kurio said that a male had teleported him nearly outside of the city. His expression was that of being dumbfounded as the teleporting was something that made some in his area of science drool over. Ashley's expression got hard as he heard that the SPECTOR's were there cleaning up the place.
"I did hear something on the news and some alerts from some people from the lab. But more or less Matou wants a massive cover up or some part of the military" he said and opend the paper and this was the show stopper for him. This caused his eyes to widen and look at the crystal "Holy hell......I have been trying to figure that out myself. Your going to have to keep a tight lips on what I am going to say next" he said and took a deep breath before he continued. "I had orginaly got some shards from smaller pieces from a lockbox that Mayou shoved into his arms after his SPECTORS came back from a mission. I scraped off some small pieces from the shards and tried to study them" he said to Kurio as he was openly admitting he did something technicly underhanded.
"I was curious and I wanted to find out why he sent those rust buckets out. From what I gathered is that these crystals, can wipe away the corruption of the covenant. It caused a reaction to some plants that had been effected by the Covenant's power. It burned away the parts that were corrupted.Again am still trying to study this stuff. But with a bigger shard here I could get better data on it" he said putting the crystal back down on the table. Still trying to get everything to sink in.

As Saeki listened to the explanation, his face turned to instant irritation. He might not have been a science type, but if what Zelpher was saying was true, then that meant this stuff could be directly weaponized into a direct anti-covenant weapon.
"...The fuck? Why would Matou cover that up, his ego dictates that he would pull that to the forefront to draw as much attention to himself as he could." he says. It's at this point that Saeki gets the idea of how to use the crystal in his own terms. He reaches forward and picks up the crystal once Zelpher was done. He looks at it for a moment, before reaching a gloved hand to the tip.
"...I'm going to try something with a chunk of this..." he says, snapping the tip off removing a small amount of the crystal, before putting it back on the table. "..If it's as good as you say it is, then I'm going to grind it up and put it in gunpowder for the explosive caps...see if your theory holds up against a big, lovable, slobbering monster sometime." he states, then staring at the crystal for a moment.
"...So what do you think you can pull off with this? How do you intend to bring it to the forefront of research? Matou probably wouldn't appreciate you going over his head."

"Yeah I agree it would be fitting for his personality. I am not sure why he is holding back on this. He should be rubbing it in our faces on how stupid we are not on his genius level of intelligence" said Ashley and he watches Kurio take a piece off of the chunk as he was going to try and add it to his bullet's gunpowder to see if it would deal massive damage on the Covenant. "Give me the news on the bullets if they work. I would be very curious on how effective those bullets would be" he said as he did not consider doing that for a test on a covenant subject.
"Somehow something happens to either the research to go bad or stop it completely by this man. I will have to and make sure that I have a lot of things to show what I have done. I am also going to see if I can grow these crystals. Since there artificaly made to the best of my knowlage. I will make some form of equipment for the brass" he said and did not look happy as he was going to have to do that. "Or see if I can oust him and get someone else in. Or get the postion myself" he said as he was more then willing to do things. To bring forth a change and give a chance against the covenant.

"Ousting him huh? You think you can do better than him?" Saeki says, glaring at the floor as he then blinks and looks at the crystal on the table. He looks at the thing and then shakes his head in disgust of sorts.
"A miracle material that can directly impact Covenant, created as a byproduct of the energy attacks used on a Zodiac. I hope you can somehow grow these things, because I don't like the idea that to get more of it we have to rely on team Short Skirt to make it." he says, his brown eyes narrowing.
"I know it's not normally a concern for you lab guys, but you know when you've seen good men lose their life and limb from this, and to find out that after months and years of fighting for survival this miracle substance comes about, it's almost insulting, as if a higher power decided that some arbitrary quota for a loss of life had been met." the Lieutenant says, glancing out the window.
"So you make some kind of tech that can solve the problem and you would probably be a worldwide hero, wouldn't your ego swell to the point of being like Matou?" he says calmly, almost slightly humorously. "I might tinker with normal stuff, but I wouldn't have any idea how to make a new 'high technology' using this stuff."

"I'm not out for ego, I want those damn Covenant bastards dead and six feet under. I'm not here for fame, I want to make a better future for my sister an many others that were effected by those freaks. Once the Covenant is defeated I might leave the military and this line of work" said Ashley as he did have a certant passion to see the covenant to go down. He still listens to what Kurio said and hears about the soldiers feeling insulted. About a miracle material "I mean, I wish we could defeat these things under our own martial power. But I would not take a gift horse in the mouth. We have an enemy that can not be defeated by normal means. Any advantage we can take against them we should take it" he said agreeing that the finding of these crystals was a slap to the face. As now they needed them to have a chance against the enemy.
"I have a idea on how to grow them, like any crystal these things could be grown. Under high pressure and heat, and the catalyst is from covenant energies or purified energy by those girls. Which my self and another scientist have collected. The other thing I would like to know the chemical makeup of it. Sorry Saeki-san for the tangent, what I could make with this though is perhaps some kind of effect to weaken the Covenant since it effects them somehow" said Ashley as he gets up and picks up the crystal. "If your not to busy right now, you want to see my workshop" he asked Kurio as he was not sure if the man was busy with his own duties.

"Meh, once the Covenant is done, then your job gets a lot easier doesn't it? A lot less bloodshed and moral ambiguity I'd assume." Saeki says as he lets the thought of quitting after it was all said and done play around in his head. There was certainly an appeal to getting out of the 'killing and law enforcement' thing from his end. But what would someone like him do afterward? There are certainly occupations, but would they be anything he'd actually want to do?
When Ashley ranted on about science and the etcetra, Kurio kinda zoned out, thinking about the battle that he was engaged in the other day. The sights he saw in the knights and the senshi against the battle, calling forth the elements as if it were natural to do so. The sight and idea of it made him uneasy.
When Ashley then spoke of the lab, he snapped out of his la la land and then looks at the young scientist, his eyes slightly narrow as was his natural expression. A shrug later, he simply says "Sure" in a casual voice.

"I guess it would...anyway welcome to my workshop" said Ashley as he went down a set of stairs to a basement. He then unlocks the door and walks in and on the inside Kurio would be rather impressed as the area had some pretty decent hardwear. As one area of the area had a rather large worktable that had a lot of high end tools. On another side was a white board that had a lot of complex math equations and formulas. In the middle of the room was a large table that had several things on it. In the center was two of Ashley's self made combat blades. Then one of the other corners was a super high end computer and then across from it was Ashley's computer server system. Then the final thing was a rollcage and Kurio would see some very high end firearms as well as safe.
"Welcome to my little workshop here" said Ashley as he started to head to the rollcage to unlock it. As he was heading to his safe to get something out of it.

"...No, some of this isn't illegal at all..." Kurio says, rolling his eyes a little at some of the contraband guns and civilian banned equipment that was along the walls. He tucks his hands in his pockets as he approaches where the roll-cage was and pauses, looking at some of the guns that he had in there.
"I don't recognize some of these models." he admits, before returning to the center of the room and pausing, looking at the equations that made absolutely no sense to Kurio's practical mind. How Ashley could get anything out of these made no sense to him. The oversized computer in the corner made him wonder what exactly he would need that much computing power.
"So...how did you come to acquire this stuff? Stealing it from the labs? Black market?" he says, admittedly already on guard about the origins of the equipment.

"Most of the guns here are replacements for what I lost when the Covenant took over my country. So all of them are legal, you can check the records if you want to. Most people that join the swiss military are allowed to keep most of there armdaments. If there was a chance of war breaking out. How do you think I was able to get a Desert Eagle" said Ashley as he pointed to the rather large handgun on the rack. "Some are modified weapons, a few are models of some proto type weapons. Like this one here the Steyr ACR and that one there is the H&K G11 Advanced Assault Rifle from some American program back in the 1989 to 1990's. Both are a Bullpup design, but never put them into service. Since they still thought the M16 was still the best weapon for them. What morons to pass up a good weapon. I might put a request in to see if we can get the Steyr ACR made for the JSDF he said pointing to the two models of the gun.
"The computer systems I salvaged and repaired myself it took awhile though. But it was well worth it though, but its not what I came down here to show you. Its this thing" said Ashley as he opens the safe and gets a pair of what looked like night vision or infrared goggles. But they did not look like they were the normal type as several things had been switched around and some wires were added here and there. "Remember how I said I was making something to see hidden threats with the covenant? Well I finished it. Try them on and flick the switch there" he said pointing to the switch. If Kurio did put the goggles on and flicked the switch. He would see Ashley with an odd glow around him in a green color. Then with the computers and several electrical lines in the wall. Kurio would see a electric blue color.
In the wall though, there would be green outlines of something moving. More then likely insects or some small rodents scurrying around. Although the biggist thing would be the crystal on the table as Ashley had set it on the table when he brought the goggles over. The crystal would be giving off a massive white aura and it was quite bright compared to some of the other things.

"I don't care that much. I'm used to Japanese issue models. But having a huge gun collection doesn't do you much good if you don't have the training or skill to use them to full capacity. Most people think you can just point and pull and you're a threat, but targeting, battlefield awareness, calculating wind factor, using the appropriate ammunition for the job, there's a lot more to being 'good' with a firearm." he says as he shrugs a little, noting the rifle that Ashley had mentioned should be implemented into the JSDF ranks.
"A fancier rifle that fires the same lead isn't the solution, but rather a higher powered and unconventional method when you're up against a Class IV." he says before his eyes shift to the direction Ashley mentioned the computer system. When Ashley showed him some kind of custom goggles, Saeki looks at them with obvious 'I don't really believe it' on his face, but decides to humor him by putting them on.
He sees Ashley with a green glow around him, along with the blue lines in the walls and some critters in the walls. So far this wasn't much different than thermal goggles, though perhaps there is a novelty in detecting the bugs.
"Might wanna get an exterminator." he says, when his eyes wander about the room and in direct view of the crystal on the table, it was like a flash grenade went off at point blank. He lets loose a pained grunt that didn't make any verbal sense in any known language, nearly dropping the goggles, before he falls on his backside and has his eyes slammed shut.
"...I think I may have gone blind...thanks." he grumbles, rubbing his eyes hard. He couldn't see anything other than white right now.

Ashley nods his head about Kurio's opinions on the guns and then raised his eyebrow when Kurio had fallen to the floor. "What the hell" he said and came over to the man. Curious he puts on the goggles and then looks at the crystal and then moves away. "Sorry I did not think that happen...you need help up" he said taking off the goggles. He kneels down to check the man and to his observations it seemed like he was hit by a flash bang. "The difference between this and infrared is that this thing detected the bio electrical signals of people. But I guess with my tweeking I caused it to see in the energy spectrum. With this though.....we could possibly detect the energies that the Covenant or this crystal is giving off. So this could possibly detect Covenant that are in a human guise......Sorry for digressing" he said and then looks at Kurio.
"Is your vision coming back" he said not moving just yet until Kurio could see again.

Kurio just sat, closed his eyes, and pressed the pressure points along the side of his head, rubbing them with the tips of his fingers in small circles. It wasn't really something that he thought would help, but more a response and a way to actually do something. Ashley mentioned something about detecting the energies the Covenant could give off, which admittedly caught his curiosity.
"Invent something like that and you'd make sniper teams and surveillance squads have a lot easier of a time." he says, blankly blinking as the white out very slowly begins to fade. He remains prone on the floor and he simply looks at the floor's direction, unable to perceive it.
"It will come back eventually. I suppose I can't blame you for it. But how do you arrive at the conclusion of 'bright as shit rock with some kind of anti covenant energy to being able to see Covenant energy? That's a big leap."
