Sophia wasn’t sure where to classify herself in the reading spectrum. “I wouldn’t say avid, but I have read a good number of the classics. Some in their original languages. Just because certain stories seem to repeat themselves. I am more into film that literature to be honest. Something about the way people are capable of portraying emotions in a way that makes you believe that they were real. That makes you feel something.” Plays and movies always had more of a grasp on her than books. Seeing actors take on another role perfectly and display an entire story struck her as astounding.

“Normally when I ended up picking up a book it fits into one of three categories: (1) is considered a literary classic, (2) was adapted into a film in order to compare, or (3) is some study book to learn a new language.” She can’t remember the last time she did some lighter form of reading. It wasn’t really a thing that interested her much. She feels a little guilty admitting this to a stranger who went out of his way to pick up a book from an import store.

Kail rubs the back of his head sheepishly and laughs slightly. "Well yes you don't look like the type to sit down a lot. You seem very active and want to get into things then watch them" he commented on what she said. Then hears her breakdown on stuff she likes to read. All of them were good points to be made and could not refute them. "Well for me I do it for pleasure and helps get inspired to write a story" he said and had a small smile on his face. As he was getting into one of his hobbies.

"I am a author by I guess trade. I just like to write stories and get people inspired. So when I want to get into a new genre of storytelling. I pick up a book, either recent or a classic to get me going" he said looking pleased about his tallents and skills. His other skill was that he was not bad at kendo. But was hoping that he could train with a real katana blade one of these days.

“I guess I do keep pretty active, and I can't say that I have given myself too much time to sit and read,” affirming part of his statement about her. “But I like acting, so it isn’t all about just watching for me.” She wanted to be able to emulate those good at their jobs, and learn from what they did well.

“An author? What sorts of things do you write?” Devoting your career to an art form took a great deal of determination… and ability to deal with being broke for long periods of time. However, Sophia was a bit more curious about the bookish man now. It was one thing to enjoy an art, and another to take part and create it. She sort of understood his description of his process of being inspired. It was just a different medium, but the emotions were all the same.

"It ranges but I tend to do a lot of fantasy and paranormal stories. But I am slowly trying to get into crime/thriller stuff as well. My main weakness in though seems to be. I can't do romance and comedy that well. I am trying to well improve in that area. But I end up short" Kail said and he was able to admit that he was weak in a few areas. He could get into writing out fighting secens really well. But trying to do something well romantic. That was something he could not do.

Did he just lack experience or perhaps he did not have it in his life. The redhead just lightly shakes his head to get back into reality. "I picked up a few of those kinds of books today. One of these days I will get a nack for it" said Kail as he showed one of the other books to Sophia. The novel was a best seller for the month in the romance genre.

Sophia took a look at the romance novel. From the back panel, it seemed a bit cheesy as most best-selling romance novels tend to be. Sophia could appreciate cheesy from time to time, but it didn’t seem really the best way to approach writing the genre to her. “You could try reading some Jane Austen,” she proposed. However, she would be surprised if he hasn’t tried that already. It was a staple of romantic comedies after all.

“Romance would seem a bit difficult since everyone’s idea of it is a bit different. Same with comedy since everyone has a difference sense of humor. But it seems like inspiration for those type of every day experiences would be hard to gather from reading another book…” If books were supposed to reflect real life, it seemed best to write a book in reflection of one’s own romantic ideals and sense of humor rather than try to repackage someone else’s likes. “Besides, I am sure that you are probably judging yourself too harshly in that regard. Most artists do.”

Continuing to look over the romance novel, she asks, “Have you ever published anything? Forgive me if you are actually a big time author and I am just not well-versed enough to recognize your name.”

"Maybe I am judging my self too hard, but I like to have challenges in my life. And to test my abilities, if I get lax. Well I might not turn out a high quality story. That is true, there isn't any manual for those subjects. But some things here and there can help" said Kail as his eyes blazed for a second. As if to show his burning passion for his art. He hears from Sophia if he has published any of his works. He had a few sites where he posted his work. And made sure that no one could copy his works.

"I am online, There a few places where I have put my stories up for people to read. I am trying to finish collage now to get a degree or two. Then see if I can get someone to publish a book or two. If you like I can write down a few sites where I have some of my writings" he said to Sophia as he wrote down the author she mentioned to him. As Kail would look up one of her books to read when he got the chance. After finishing the book he started to read.

The number of Sophia’s celebrity meetings this week was still at one. But having met the author, reading a random novel seemed a lot more appealing to Sophia. “What sites? I would like to take a look.” She hadn’t read much fantasy or paranormal novels in the past, but there was never really a bad time to start. And it seemed Kail enjoyed his work quite a bit, which she felt would probably translate well into his writing.

“If you don’t mind me asking, what college do you attend, and what degrees are you trying to get. I am at Juuban, and I know they have a University… somewhere on campus… It’s a big campus, so I have actually never seen it.” It strikes her at nice to know possibly another person on campus even if they were in some far off section of the school.

"Let me write down those sites for you" said Kail as he reaches into the bag and grabs a recept slip. And writes down the website and his pen name which was Runicblade. Then he gives Sophia the paper of the site. And then he hears about what collage he was going to and laughs slightly. As he was going to Juban as well, and it was some sense of irony for him

"I am going to the Juban collage as well. I tend to not be noticed by people" he said and just rubbing the back of his head. "And I just recently got in. So I haven't had the time to teach for a class yet. I am doing writing, history, and some of the normal corses" he said and just was speaking casualy about it.

Sophia smiles, “I will definitely give these a look when I get back home.” She tucks the note away, careful not to lose it. “Not noticeable? You have a British accent and red hair, which are sort of rare around here. I am sure you get plenty of attention.”

“But it is good to know someone else on the campus. Since you haven’t been there yet, a word of warning, it will take a good 30 min to figure out how to get to class. Some people travel using a segway. It is sort of like a small city. However, if you want to catch up, I can give you my number or something.”

Curious about her new found friend, she continues asking about his life, “Are you excited about teaching classes? Are you teaching for the college or for public school levels as well?”

Kail shrugged "I guess I do stand out like that but meh" he said and watched Sophia but the paper away somewhere. Then she mentioned about the collage he remembers something. "Its for public schools such as High School and lower. Since there are not enough teachers to teach some of the students. Its interesting when you have a captive audience in front of you" he said and for him. It was just a different thing for him to get use to.

"And about knowing the area, I went to high school there" Kail said with a light chuckle. "Has the food improved over there" he said as the food was still bad there. But he wondered if things have improved there. Or it was just the same, as he started to cook a small bit with his mother.

She laughs a little, “Maybe you will teaching our class. However, I wouldn’t say the phrase ‘captive audience’ fits all of them.” She thinks back to Yuki. While she was a wonderful friend, she would probably fall asleep during any class that Kail would teach. Maybe she could ask her not to for his benefit? She would see how that would work out if it ever happened.

“Did you take 30 minutes to find your room on your first day of class too?” she asks. After thinking back on the first day of school, she amends her previous statement, “Well, actually, it was 30 minutes before I found someone to show me to the room.”

“Also, the food has not improved if it was far too salty to be edible when you were there. I would suggest go back to packing your own lunches again,” she adds.

Kail laughs a bit at what Sophia said "Well I will try and keep them awake as much as I can. I just hope that my voice does not make them fall asleep" he said as most teens at Sophia's age really wanted to fun things rather then be stuck inside of a classroom. So Kail could understand how they felt to a degree.

"No it was about ten minutes......although it could have been fifteen if I was distracted" he said with a chuckle as he heard how long it took Sophia to get to her classes. "And that sucks......I had hoped that things would have changed. I guess not" and he had to plan his lunches for himself now. "So mystery meat everyday eh" Kail said trying to make a joke.

"So what are you planning to do while in high school Sophia" he asked since he spoke about what he was doing. "Going for drama and acting" he asked as he remembered something like that in there conversation.

“Try as you will to keep the class awake, but I think some may believe that some classes are school sanctioned nap times. If they put you in a class after the lunch, prepare for snoring no matter how interesting the subject,” Sophia says reflecting on her past week. She is pretty sure that she saw a few people fall asleep as soon as they got to their desks after lunch. However, the idea of the school bringing out cots for nap time after lunch did seem nice.

“Oh well… I suppose it was just me getting lost, but I am pretty good for that,” Sophia says, a little embarrassed. “I guess that is why the whole class seemed to get there before me.”

“As for my plans, if I get accepted the arts program, then I will probably tryout for the first school production planned for. So yeah, acting. I can sing and dance too, but as I said before, theatre and cinema are really engaging for me. With my background, I guess that I am all set to do a musical. But I would be willing to do just about any genre as long as it seemed fun.”

“Were you in the arts program while you were there? I believe they take writers…”
