Alien She was now playing on a big stage, opening for a big act, The Sirens. Not something Bri even imagined doing, having played in crappy bars until the last year. Now, they had been getting some decent radio play. It was still odd for her recorded voice to be playing over speakers.
This was perhaps the first time Bri hadn’t met those she was sent to perform with. The musicians of Siren must be chronically busy because she hadn’t seen a damn one. And while it was nice to open for such a big band, everything felt so damn secretive. She wonders if big acts were always like this. Not that it made a world of difference. Alien She would do their normal set.
In the middle of Seibu mall, she feels fairly introspective, looking through various instruments in the musical store. Same kind of corporate musical instrument store where she bought her first guitar and keyboard. Both of which were complete crap, especially compared to what she was playing now. Sitting at one of the demo keyboards, she starts to play “Pump It Up” by Elvis Costello. She used to be a huge Elvis Costello fan… However, Bri starts to get really into it, drawing a crowd as she sings and plays. Some recognize her and start recording the impromptu performance.
