As Sophia plucks the shard away, Covenant Bear squirms and feebly tries to resist, his strength greatly diminished by the effort until he slumps over motionless. Was the shard the only thing that kept Covenant Bear active?

"You know... I was kind of hoping he would become a cuddly bear after removing that," Sophia says, watching the bear slump over. She shrugs as Itoi asks her how to destroy the crystal. “Ok. This is where I reveal that I’ve only done this for a month. Your guess is as good as mine. I just remember someone mentioning it to me. He unfortunately never said a thing about breaking it.” Looking down to the black crystal, she adds, “I can’t really think of a safe place to keep it either.” Suddenly, she is aware how insane she must look in a room of people with no concept of magic. She looks around, "But I think we should possibly get the heck out of here first..."

"Yes, you're right... I don't exactly know what just happened, but I feel like doing all of this in front of so many bystanders is probably unwise."

Itoi tucked the crystal way in one of his pockets, figuring that if anyone were to keep it safe until it could be destroyed, someone like him in a position of spiritual authority should probably be the one to do it. He turned to Sophia and nodded his head once.

"And as we make our exit, I'd appreciate the chance to figure out exactly what's going on here... As you can imagine I'm just a little taken aback by this entire episode.."

Sophia nods. “I’m afraid my explanations tend to lead to new questions though.” She makes her way out of the library, and once out of sight of everyone besides Itoi, she transforms back. “I know… my real identity as a high school teenager is much less impressive than being Sailor Venus.”

She rubs the back of her head. “Alright. How to start this… There are people, like you and me, who can draw power from various planets. This gives us those magical powers. Each planet has a male knight and a female senshi. Together, we more or less protect this world and everyone in it from harm. This means we tend to fight the Covenant quite a bit. I don’t know why we have these powers, but I know some about our predecessors. And I don’t know all about how our powers work, but I know some basics. Which would you like to hear first?”
