“Uh huh…” Taika says as Kurio mentions he comes here to train. “And here I thought most people did this for fun. Do you regularly find your job or life circumstances require you to scale mountains or buildings?” she jokes.

She watches as Kurio’s eyes glaze over when Ash talks technology and when she says her last name. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, evidently. The guy’s posture was also kind of stiff. She was already kind of bored of the individual, but her present company seemed to like him. Maybe he was actually a really interesting man? She somehow doubted it though.

Shaking his hand, she says, “Not my area, but I live on base, so I tend to recognize other officers are in the area though.”

She looks over to Valdis when Ash mentions concert tickets, “A politician’s daughter and a celebrity? Don’t you lead an interesting life?”

Valdis nodded, that was good information to know. If things continued to go the way they were going she might need to implement that knew found knowledge. She knew that her offer would make him feel uncomfortable which was why she offered to talk it over at a later date...This was one of the few things she could do for Kaseis family...after all she hadn't been able to prevent what happened and she had been there. Valdis turned to Ash when he came forwarded and watched the interacting between Kurio and him with mild amusement.

"Kurio-kun your about as interesting as a wet towel"

She chuckled at her own joke; although the subject matter turned her her and her group. She scratched the back of her head as she thought for a second on how to answer that question.

"I'm touched that your sister is a fan, however I seem to be having trouble with my manager at the moment. As for my next concert I implore you and your sister to wait until Kanekos agency puts one up. We plan on coming out with some new material that should blow our previous acts out of the water."

She smiled; when it came to her music Valdis was almost normal.

"Seeing how I can't give you an answer to that...I may have something better if your younger sister will have it. Just excuse me for a moment"

Valdis nodded to both of them before jogging off for a short bit; she had gone to the locker rooms to grab something from her pack she took it out and scribbled a note on it. She came back with with the old folded up piece of paper; when she got back to the group she held it out to Ash.

"This was the piece that started my career; its the sheet music I wrote when I was twelve; lyrics included. It has never been published; the agency had other plans for me. But it is what got the rest of the group to join me.Its meant for the piano. I wrote something on the back for her."

In very neat slightly slanted hand writing read 'There are many outlets for the soul, music happens to be mine. Express what you feel and you will never loose yourself. Yours truly Valdis P.S. Thank your brother It was nothing special but perhaps the girl would enjoy it. When her new mentor addressed her she turned to attention to her.

"Interesting I suppose is the right word for it; I went into the musical career under my mothers last name. The agency didn't realize I was the presidents daughter until well later. I went through great lengths to ensure I reached my status on my own power and not by piggy backing on a name."

"Actually, yes to buildings. About once a week, maybe twice if people are being particularly 'disrespectful toward their fellow man. Earlier this week I had to chase a suspect into an abandoned building, free climbing up a dilapidated wall with few hand holds and then to subdue the jerk alive and mostly intact. " he says in response to Taika's response. His eyes slanted to a half-glare in Valdis' direction: she at least knew to some extent what he has had to deal with in the past. What he has to deal with today. However that was simply a minor fact Valdis would know. Ashley also had something of a clue, Ms Hakunamatata didn't need to know.

Those judgmental eyes of her made her lose some ever rare and valuable 'Saeki Points'. Oh well. Kurio knew he was the anomaly relative to other people. Then Valdis runs off, to where Kurio blinks, turning back to Ashley and Taika, before Valdis returns a moment later declaring it to be one of her first sheet music pieces. Kurio blinked and could almost feel a tange of sweat go down his head.

"Val is that really something you tended to carry around on your person?" he says, deadpanning a little at the convenience of her token to Ashley's sister. Not that there was anything wrong with it, just very...convenient.

Ashley felt flattered by this action and visably blushed slightly "I must admit, I am flattered by this. I don't have something on me, to properly store this so it does not get ruined. Perhaps hold on to it until we can get to my vechical. I am sure my sister will treasure it for the rest of her life" he said and read the note quickly on the sheet music. It had been a long time since he read music an it was a good tune from what he saw. Ashley's head turns to the direction of Kurio "Perhaps Valdis kept this as a good luck charm. I'm sure we all have kept something that reminds ourselves of our first major accomplishments" he said to him. Since that was the only thing that came to mind. But with all of the chatting they were doing. A thought was coming to mind about all of them sitting down for a meal as friends.

"Perhaps we should continue our chatting over some food or at least a hot drink" said Ashley as he was not sure how hungry the other three were.

Wet towel was right. This guy seemed ultra dull. Until, he started mentioning the building climbing and nabbing suspects. That seemed like it could be an interesting story at least. “So this does have a real world application for you? Cool. So how many stories did you climb? What did the guy do exactly?”

Watching as Valdis hands the music sheet to Ash, Taika says, “So you have a younger sister… that makes so much sense now. Well, I definitely would have been into any sort of autograph of my favorite artists as a teenager. I’m sure she’ll be incredibly grateful of this.”

Taika shrugs at Valdis’ mention of piggybacking, “I wasn’t suggesting that you were piggy-backing. Just that you do more things in a given day and know larger networks of people than when I was your age. I don’t know you’re music, I’m afraid. Can’t say that I’ve really stayed tuned into music.”

She looks back at Kurio when he talks about the convenience of the object. He had a point, but Ash didn’t need to know that. And neither did his kid sister. “Ssshhh… don’t break the illusion for everyone.”

"Your job sounds more fun than getting up on stage and parading around pretending to look pretty"

She gave Kurio an innocent gaze in return for his glare, Kasei wasn't around to give him the little sister treatment so she was stepping in her place and fulfilling that role. When she had come back she got the deadpanned look from Kurio and she shrugged in response to it. She was going to respond when Ash quipped in his own personal take on why she had conveniently had it in her bag.

"Mr Zelpher here is partially correct, sort of...as well off as I am I only see the practical need to carry one bag, so that one bag comes with me to the studio, gym, and other such places where I would need to carry a change of clothes or supplies. I have had this ratty old bag now for quite some time; and I happen to keep this in the front pocket. I've been working on some new pieces; when I find myself in a creative slump I pull this out to play it to return to my roots. Another reason why it has never left said bag is unfortunately where I may be neat and tidy in every other aspect of my life my bag is a disorganized mess of papers that I never clean out. So partly why this was so conveniently found was because I just raided that said mess off papers and happen to find this gem that I had completely forgotten was in there."

So basically it was just disorganized luck that it had been in there. When Taika explained that she didn't accuse her of piggy backing Valdis nodded. Showing that she understood, then turned back to Ash when he offered out the idea of a hot beverage or lunch. While she wasn't one to turn away from idle chat she did know someone who did. Her violet gaze shifted up towards Kurio with a questioning stare basically asking 'should we?' She would leave the decision up to him; after all she did want to chat with him later about Kasei's situation.

When Taika's inquiry about what he was chasing for came up, his eyes narrow to slits for a moment. The question wasn't one he entirely wanted to expand on, knowing what happened that day. With a breath, he quietly speaks in Taika's direction.

"There are many misguided people in this world, a world where paranormal acts are a reality and a generally oppressive atmosphere. They get strange ideas in their head, that doing irrational things can bring them some type of magical salvation from what problems are in their lives. A young individual was taken in the night and set to be ritually sacrificed by a lunatic...it is only by some degree of luck we were able to find the kid by using thermal goggles in an abandoned warehouse filled area..." he says, pausing and then shifting his eyes away.

"The kid survived but will probably have some psychological therapy ahead, while the suspect tried to flee into the rafters and shooting him down wasn't an option due to the possibility of causing an explosion because there was a flammable gas loose in the air from whatever he was using for heating. He was taken personally and alive, much as I wish he resisted once he was cornered." he says.

When the subject turned to leaving to get something to eat, Kurio shook his head.

"I have to decline. I have to hit the streets in two hours. I have to visit someone first." he says, beginning to pack up. Valdis would most likely know what exactly he had in mind. Further comment on the song script wasn't given from the Lieutenant.

Ashley smiled slightly after Taika's comment about the music sheet that was given to him. "Yes well, she's been white as a sheet from the last few weeks due to the Covenant attacks as of late. That's all I would like to say for now. Its a touchy subject that I don't want to get into. Also I did not mean to keep that piece of info away from you. It just never came up" he said and held on to the sheet of music and would hold on to it until he could find a safe place to put it. He had to laugh a bit at Valdis when she mentioned her disorganized bag. It seemed that in one place or another a person would have some kind of clutter of chaos. And it seemed that it was Valdis's carry bag that she always had on her.

Things slightly shifted when Kurio went on to tell a tale of one of his missions. This caused Ashley to have a deadpan expression and then facepalm. Although had to get serious on the matter that Kurio had spoke about "Psychos like these always crawl out of the woodwork in a bleak time like this. But at least there was a slight happy ending to it" he then hears Kurio decline on his offer. Ash had enough tact to not push the man into the offer. Since whoever it was that he was going to visit must have been very important to him. "A shame, but I understand. I hope you have an easy night though" Ash said to Kurio as he was getting his stuff together.

Kurio certainly led a dramatic life. A cop drama kind of life, actually. However, Taika can’t quite imagine up a suitable buddy cop partner for him to complete the mental image. Mostly, she wasn’t sure whether he was “by-the-books” cop or “cowboy” cop yet, which would define the other one. Eventually, she settles for “by the books” cop because “cowboy” cop would have at least roughed the lunatic up a little.

As much as Taika wants to tell him that they all should have just closed the exits and let the perp asphyxiate to the point of unconsciousness, she decides to keep acting like a normal being, and parrot Ash, “Yeah. Glad to hear it ended alright.”

Taika gives a look back at the rock wall at the mention of food. “I feel like I just got here… but sure, where would you like to go get food? I have no preferences.” She gives a slight frown as Kurio mentions leaving. She just started to find him amusing too. He was definitely the takes-his-job-too-seriously cop… working out two hours before his shift started. “It was good meeting you at least.”
