Sophia sits by the ramen stand where Lance said he worked, hoping he’d show up soon. Her bike stands by her, and she’s carrying a bag of food. She figures she ought to keep in touch with the Eris Knight even if he didn’t feel like particularly joining the team. While he called himself a monster, he didn’t seem much like one to her, not that she believed a person could be that terrible to begin with. In addition, they fought a similar fight. Run-ins with each other would be inevitable, so communication was a necessity. On top of that, she wanted to thank him for his contribution to the fight on Scorpio. He didn’t need to help them or try to slow the military after the fight, but he did anyways. She sings some song that she heard on the radio, waiting for him to show up. She's in pretty good spirits for someone who thought that the U.S. military was going to lock her up in some facility a few hours ago.

Lance walks up to the ramen stand and looks around. He was wearing a construction workers outfit and there were large bags under his eyes. He had to work hard to make ends meet and the fact that he was now fighting as the Eris knight almost full time left him with very little free time to do much else. "Oh, it's the kid~" he yawns as he walks over to take a look at the bike. "So this is you bike huh? Yeah, I can give it a tune up." he assures her as he continues to inspect it then walks into a nearby overhang and comes back with a tool box.

"Yeah, this'll cost the price we discussed last time." he says looking up at her and quirking an eyebrow. "Do you need something else?"

“Yeah, I remember,” Sophia says, handing him the money. It seemed that she would have to get used to being called kid in addition to Little Mouse. She wonders when the last time he slept was and how he’s even still moving. She shakes her head, “That’s pretty much it. Well, that and I wanted to thank you for yesterday. You didn’t have to do anything, but you did. And we appreciate it. The offer to join us still stands, but I’m pretty sure you’re going to say no. But I think we should stay in touch regardless. Or you can just take my number.”

She takes two sandwiches out of the bag, and hands one to Lance. “Also, it’s around dinner time. How have you been since yesterday?” She guesses the answer probably was fighting, and not sleeping.

Lance takes out some tools and immediately begins work on her bike. He takes out a flip phone and hands it to Sophia as well. "If you run into something you can't handle clear out and I'll take care of it." he says indicating she should call him in that situation. "I have no intention of joining your group, but if you can't handle a situation you can know that I'll be there to clean it up at least." he says surprisingly earnestly, though there was still a scalding edge to it. He worked quickly and efficiently despite his exhaustion, and when he was offered the food he took it immediately with a nod of thanks and began eating.

"Yesterday? After we separated I went home and slept for a couple of hours then got up and went to work. After that I caught a wiff of some youma so I went to deal with them. I healed most of my remaining wounds when I was Oni and now the bulk of the city is clear again." he explains as he stuffs the rest of a sandwich in his mouth. He seemed to be progressing well on Sophia's bike.

Sophia takes down his number and enters hers as well. “Sounds like you can take care of most things. If you run into a Zodiac, call me? Well, I suppose we’d probably notice something that big, but still.” It was a little unfortunate that not every senshi and knight went to Juuban. Now, she had to worry about Lance, David, and Valdis because she couldn’t check in them on every day. Such was life though.

She watches him work on the bike as he talks about how things were going. She feels a little lazy in comparison. “Hmmm… I visited someone in the hospital, went to school, and got taken in a black car by secret service. Can't say I've been nearly as productive... I’m guessing you don’t take many breaks though. A few of us are going to the wave pool on Saturday if you want to join us.”

"Breaks are for those who can afford it." He replies in a weary tone, how long would he continue this he wondered. "Well I suppose I might be able to take a day off on Saturday since you've paid me here." He admits, he was strapped for cash like always, but he was actually ahead this month so overall he figured he could probably take a day to rest. He finishes the rest of the food and begins the next round of checks and fixes to the bike. He seemed more amiable now that he was working and focusing on something.

"If you went with the secret service, and went to the hospital it sounds like you were plenty busy." He points out as she mentions that she doesn't feel particularly productive. "I'm simply doing what I've always, done there's always filth on the streets whether it's people or monsters makes no difference to me really."

“Well, I’m glad I allowed you to take a break for one afternoon,” Sophia says, looking at his progress on the bike. “All the other senshi and knights should be there. I think we’re getting there early before the crowds, which will be sort of nice.”

She shakes her head a little, “It’s not so much being productive as getting dragged around. I haven’t really gotten anything done much on the list of stuff that I need accomplish. Well, I guess the hospital visit was on that list. So there’s that.”

The statement of cleaning up filth on the streets confuses her a little. She studies him for a few moments before saying, “I suppose protecting the city is a little easier with all the powers and stuff. But what did you do before you were a knight?” She remembers watching him try to brawl the fire youma when they first met, but has a hard time believing that he’d still be alive if he did that regularly before awakening.

"Well I imagine it's just going to be me being awkward and the rest of the braidy bunch enjoying themselves or something, but I suppose it'll be good to at least know who each of you are." He replies as he moves on to inspecting the chain. When Sophia mentions that she has things on her list he shrugs. "You've got time, you're still a student after all." he replies.

"Hmm~ before I became a knight? Well not that much different that what I do now. Odd jobs and construction work and brawling in back alleys, though mostly against humans." He replies as if it was nothing. "After all there's a lot of scum out here, the least we can do is take it out on each other." he explains though his eyes seem to grow more intense as he says it.

"Well, I don't really do that anymore. Youma are more challenging fights and killing them is actually a good thing to do, so at least this pointlessly violent life style of mine is finally being put to good use." He says, his voice taking on a slightly distant tone.

"Oh, well not that it's that important, but I also went to school when I had the time and inclination. Juuban is actually a pretty lax place when it comes to attendance." He says stifling a yawn.

Sophia rubs the back of her head. “Brady bunch… We’re probably a little more dysfunctional than them to be honest, but most groups don’t act like those on T.V.” David brain zapped her on her their first meeting, and Valdis recently strangled her. She’s pretty sure the Brady Bunch didn’t have any of those problems.

“So work and fighting’s always been part of the daily routine for you.” She hardly could cope with just school and senshi duty. “Scum? You helped get me out of a battlefield. I don’t think you qualify. Besides, I’ve also heard you sing now, so I don’t think you qualify much for the monster bit either.”

“Wait, you go to Juuban?” That was an odd revelation. “I’ve never see you around, but it is a large school. What class are you in? I guess that explains why you aren’t in the army overseas or something. Is one of your parents stationed here? I don’t think I’ve met anyone with the last name Evans…”

"Well I suppose every group's got it's problems, but to be honest I think I'm probably best off alone. Especially when there's a youma in your group now." he points out, especially as said youma had recently tried to strangle Sophia. "I've said it before, but I really think someone like you should stay out of this kind of fighting, you're not suited for it." he repeats as he finally finishes his work.

Though when Sophia tries to tell him he's not scum he simply shakes his head. "Well your opinion is your own, but in the end those of us who rely on violence for communication or simply because we are driven too are considered that." He says "Also I don't think the ability to hum a tune exempts me from what I am. You realize that I've eaten a youma? I've probably killed a dozen by now, some of those probably could have turned back into people if you guys had met them, but they got unlucky and met me."

"Well all of that aside, you haven't seen me because I don't go to school very often. I'm a delinquent after all. I'm also not in your grade since I'm in my final year." He explains, though when she brings up his family Lance stops moving for the first time since Sophia met him. "..." He stays silent for a bit. "Sophia, do you actually think any parent in their right mind would like their child live the way I do?" Lance asks he didn't really want to say it, after all even if it had been a long time it wasn't really easy to talk about how one's parents were dead.

Sophia sighs, “I never said I was good at fighting. And I don’t like it honestly. But I have other skills that I think can help people. Kail and I saved that building full of people after all. I want to protect people, and I think I have the moral obligation to do so with the powers I have. Wouldn’t you say?”

“Besides, I turned out fine after the last battle. No need to worry about me. There are perks to being this non-threatening. No one ever aims for you,” she jokes.

“I also know most people don’t agree with me normally on anything involving youma. I don’t consider them bad people,” Sophia shrugs. Eating youma was pretty bad, but her team was ready to damn one for eternity until she spoke up. She was coming to terms with the fact that her morality was just different. “Also, you’ve shown you’re a pretty good knight… when you feel like it.”

She’s a little unprepared for the awkward turn in the conversation. That was pretty dumb of her. “Oh… I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to… ummm… bring that up.”

As Sophia talks to Lance about moral obligations he stops working and turns towards her with a frown. "No there is no obligation to do what you do." Lance tells her as his brows knit slightly. "Sophia, your life if your own, there is no responsibility or obligation that can require you to risk it. If you keep this up you're probably going to die, so make sure you've at least come to terms with that before you continue on this path." Lance points out as he resumes work.

"Scorpio was mostly mad by the time we were fighting him anyways, and I think he was surprised by the raw strength of some of your allies, but from here on out fighting other zodiac class enemies is going to be a hell of a lot tougher." He explains Lance was aware that from here on out they were fighting an uphill battle. Though when he hears Sophia mention that he can be a pretty good knight when he wants to be Lance lets out a laugh, it sounds dry and slightly deprecating.

"I'm a fighter not a protector, though you are free to keep looking through your rose tinted glasses if you'd like." He replies with a shrug. "And don't worry about the parent thing. You had no way of knowing, and I've had a lot of time to get over it."

Sophia frowns, “I believe I have a duty to this world and to the people I care for. However, don’t think that means I feel forced to do this sort of thing. I want to do this. I made this choice. I am prepared to die for everyone. Doing nothing to save a life bothers me more than the thought of my death.”

“But I don’t focus on death. It’s always there, and it’s always a possibility, yes. But there is a chance that we succeed. That we manage to actually save the world. I prefer to keep hopeful.”

“And I believe in the team do deal with whatever challenges come their way. If our future fights are more difficult, then we’ll just need to get tougher.”

She gives him a sad look when he talks about being a fighter. Evidently, there wasn’t much one could do to convince someone that they weren’t broken or a terrible person. “It’s not rose-tinted when it’s the truth.”

She feels awkward about the parent thing. “I’m still sorry about it though. I mean, if you ever need anything, I’d be willing to try to help.”
