"I'm not questioning your reaction to that, I'm laughing at it yes, but not questioning it"
Her eyes narrowed as she crossed her hands over her chest, a classic stubborn Valdis pose. Her father would have better luck telling a donkey to jump off a cliff.
"It's either die fighting or die regretting the thought that I may have been able to play a part in doing something. Like I said the covenant is preparing for their last attack, one which we're not going to survive unless we pull a miracle out of our ass. I think mother would be proud her daughter doesn't back down from adversity."
She looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"That snow storm a few weeks back; if I hadn't snuck out that would have been the end of a good chunk of Japan. I aided in taking down the youma that was causing it. Then again I helped with the Scorpio battle... I've already proven I can make a small difference."
She paused and thought on that statement, an amused look crossing her face.
"Two Scorpios...that is an interesting thought. As for Beryl she is the queen the covenant are fallowing from what I gather. The dark kingdom being another world out there that is like the exact invert of this one. It's quite fascinating really; however the covenant is planning to bring that world here. If that happens the results will be non to pleasant I'm afraid. Half the government issue is there trying to fight this as they would each other; there ignoring all the supernatural aspects of it."
Valdis frowned when her father denied any DNA aspects of it.... she could understand why he was quick to deny it but it had to come from somewhere.
"One I didn't see hind nor hair of you until my mom was being prepared for burial; I didn't even know who you were until you showed up at the funeral. A lot can happen in a few years with out much contact. That and there's always the possibility is dormant, I didn't have anything happen until I was attacked.....and I'm NOT a Vampire....Vampires suck blood I do not...it's more of a venom that shoots out"

"I still cannot approve of you participating in battles against Covenant monstrosities. I would be a failure as a father if I were to simply be okay with that. That's like using human experimentation for a questionable new science. It might be the fastest and simplest path to a goal but that definitely doesn't make it right." Adoji says, his scowl lingering. Valdis was taking the logical approach while the president was trying to do the right thing as a parent. Who could be asked to send their daughter into combat and expect to be okay with it? Even now Adoji was planning on how to prevent this from happening in the future.
"And what proof do you have this 'Dark Kingdom' exists? An overlapping dimension? That sounds insane." he states with a deadpan expression as Valdis elaborated on what the Dark Kingdom was. It wasn't entirely easy for him to accept anything he was being told right now, with his world view having been flipped upside down with Valdis revealing herself to be a monster or magic user of some sort.
"We have been adjusting our strategy as best as we can. Further, you know well enough we have adopted a defensive policy towards Covenant engagement: we don't have a tool right now capable of fighting the Covenant and ergo sending soldiers in to their deaths is not a very appealing option." he says calmly. A vein bulged in the side of Adoji's head when Valdis made a remark about not being there for a part of her early life.
"...Guilt Card, attempt two. I am almost certain that nearly every moment of my life since five years before your conception is recorded in some capacity so if I were a...vampire snake humanoid...of some sort then I'm sure I wouldn't have been elected as a representative of the people. I think it's more likely that you trying to meddle with the Covenant has had some kind of reactive effect on your body..." he says, then glaring at Valdis as he reached in the desk and pulled out his shot glass and a scotch bottle, pouring himself a glass before sipping it. Valdis would know that when Adoji pulled out the scotch, he was way deep into the stress meter.

"Dad if you were in my position, and you saw the opportunity to end the threat that the covenant poses against us would you quietly sit aside and twiddle your thumbs? And your point is invalid, due to the fact you're using humans for the SPECTOR program."
She understood that he was worried for her safety, by why the hell couldn't he just come out and say that.
"If it makes you feel better I prefer the tactical approach to going after the covenant...As for the other realm there have been theories in existence for years. I'm not the first person to come up with it...and the Youma themselves are the first proof of such a world. I'm sure if you told someone ten or twelve years ago about odd supernatural beasts would throw the world in turmoil and cause a second ice age that they would call that insane as well."
When her father talked about not having the right tool, Valdis eyes lit up with excitement.
"Then let me help with that; let me help develop something that will work. I can work with Jun to help develop something. I can gather information faster than most; and frankly both you and I know I'm giving you more information than some of your other underlings. I'm useful to you; you can trust me. Would that at least be a compromise to fighting on the front lines?"
She honestly looked surprised when he announced she tried to use another guilt card. That hadn't been an attempt to use guilt, but she could see he had taken that way.
"That wasn't a guilt card, that was merely stating a fact. I only use guilt cars when its something the honestly bothers me....It use to bother me when I was younger, it angered me in fact...but I came to accept it as it was. I doubt you even had a clue that I existed before that yet you still chose to take me back here with you...So I apologize if you felt like I was trying to guilt you with that one."
When she made a mistake that she didn't mean to cause she did apologize. First guilt card was meant to hit a nerve, second however was not.
"If I had been effected by normal means I would have lost the capacity to be able to speak with you normally. Nor would I have been able to change back to my normal self. While me meddling in the covenant certainly has had an effect, the power had laid dormant before that."

"Even if you can fight weaker minions of the Covenant, how do you think a small victory can overcome a legion of millions of mutated freaks?!" Adoji says, slamming his fist into the side of his seat. "So let's say you're right, you and others managed to defeat a few small, minor threats. How would you destroy the Nihilim Citadel in America? How would you even destroy the Obelisk on our northern island to remove the near threat? What is the long term goal here? Follow your gut until you somehow manage to make the impossible happen?" he says, staring his daughter down with intense refusal to just accept her running off to fight.
Then she makes a remark about helping Jun. Since when did she and Jun become such good friends? While Jun might have been in that age bracket, he has also always been a businessman first and foremost. Why he should be associating with his daughter to such an extent she talks about him like a classmate bothered him: it wasn't likely some kind of sexual thing, so what was the plan here? At least he could exert pressure on Jun.
"...Maybe you can work with Kaneko...but only if you explain why and how the two of you got so chummy." he says but when Valdis explained her 'guilt card' Adoji sighs and looks at his only child more calmly.
"Look Valdis, you are all I have in this world believe it or not, and I just don't want you to get wrapped up in something you have no business being in. I don't want you to be harmed and to have a successful life."

"Daddy, you and I both know I don't go after cheap change. I study something find its breaking points and chisel at them until the collapses under their own weight. To chop down a tree you don't cut all the way through it, you cut out a small section and watch the rest topple. The covenant are stronger by far; we're not going to defeat them in numbers or force. But they built there empire upon sand; lies and deceit form their core."
She had known this was going to be a difficult argument; but she needed her father to work with her if she was to succeed. She needed him to be able to trust her and believe in her abilities. His support would be a support of strength for her; yes she could continue without it but it would be going into battle only half armed.
"The American army will march with us on the citadel; we will need the Japanese army as well; that day is fast approaching. That will happen whether we are ready to topple down the covenants empire or not."
She paused for a moment; thinking about how to proceed.
"The long term goal is to take down the dark queen herself; short term is to take down the Zodiac. Scorpio was just taken down, even if it was a body double which I don't believe it was, we have now marked ourselves as a threat. The other Zodiac will be appearing soon. Most likely during my next concert, something large is being planned. My manager was working directly under Scorpio and was given the order to start a harvest....she'll be less then pleased thanks to Jun I have been expediting my process of putting a kink in her plans."
Her eyes narrowed she still had an issue with her manager using her music for such an event...an act that she would pay dearly for. However she turned her attention back to her father.
"As for going by gut, yes I would be lying if I didn't say that was partly it, but my gut feelings only lead me to dig a bit more before I act. You of all people know that when I set out to find out about something I usually analyze it to pieces. Wasn't I the reason why you started having people clear this side of the house when having important conversations? Yet somehow if I wanted to know about something I always found a way to find it out? Me and you both know I'm a rare talent when it comes to stuff like that...I do believe I can succeed where others have failed."
Val considered for a moment debating on explaining her ability to be able to see into the future. But frankly this was the only ability she had no way to prove to him it existed...and wasn't a figment of her imagination. Hell she thought she had been imagining things the first couple times...on this unless she had to she would wait until she had proof. She didn't quite think her Dad was open to such an idea yet. "I know that in this situation I'm dealing with something a lot larger then what I use to go snooping around for. I understand the risks...I understand what I would be facing"
Vals eyes seemed to stare off in the distance for a bit, they became the tired eyes of someone who had seen much. They seemed much older than that of the child she was. But her mental development did not match that of her age either; events having already taken the child like gleam. They were the eyes of someone who had already seen a race massacred. Her eyes refocused as she looked at her father; a weak smile gracing her lips. At least they were beginning to get somewhere.
"I sought Jun out, I decided to go poke him on a whim; and on a hunch that he may be similar to myself in a way where information comes to us easily. My hunch ended up leading somewhere and he had valuable information on exactly why a youma was placed as my manager... He has been monitoring my musical career and has found a connection between my older cds and a subliminal emotional influence that have led to the covenants recruitment of my fan base. Frankly I will not stand for my abilities to be used in such a disgusting way and I recoil at the fact it was used as such."
The look of disgust was evident on her face.
"Originally he thought I had come to poke him on his meetings with you; if I was going to dig for that sort of information you and I both know you're my first and only target for that. But as things worked out me and him have come to an agreement that I will be transferring my singing career to a business that he sponsors. It will be profitable for both him and myself; that and I trust I will not have to worry about him using my music for purposes I do not approve on. That and he has agreed that part of my profits will go to a charity to help those affected by the covenant; that at least will at least be some damage control if the information of what my music has done ever gets out."
She frowned a bit, that was another thing that bothered her about the whole situation. If the information her music had been helping the covenant got out the hopes of any career would be dashed for her. It was a small bit of motivation to play as much part in taking down the covenant as possible.
"The transfer of my career has yet to be announced but if you allow me to work with Jun then it is the perfect cover for my being over there. It will not raise suspicion especially since everyone knows how much time I usually put into my musical career."
It was obvious Val had already begun to set up the pieces for this partnership; another clue to how far Ito's daughter really could plan. It was hard to believe that she was only seventeen. When her father showed a rare display of affection her eyes softened. She gazed at him with an apologetic look; she knew this was a hard position she had put him into. One she felt a bit guilty for. She took his hand and gave it a small squeeze. "Dad; you have raised me as your daughter. From you I have learned that great accomplishments come at no small price...I have a person who leads a full country in a time of despair as my role model; you have not set an example of one who selfishly idles on the sidelines. In my seventeen years I have already experienced what others only dream of accomplishing in their lifetime....I have also experienced more horrors then a person my age ever ought to. I have already had everything ripped away from me that I had cared for once. I've seen the glassy stare of innocence cut down before they had the chance to bloom. Knowing that pain, knowing the loss and how it slowly eats away at you until there is nothing left that connects you as human to this world."
She let out a small sigh; knowing full well most parents never had to have this conversation with their child.
"My point is, I'm going to get hurt....there is nothing you can do stop that from happening. But I know that you will be there for me when I do. When I am knocked down I rebuild my foundation on that fact alone...The fact is I am not the only one who will have to face that pain, not with the world the way it is. How can one be considered successful when there is so much suffering; my music is like grasping at straws compared to what I can accomplish. I can survive in places where others cannot, and I will happily bear that pain so that others do not have to."
She knew her father would have to make the sacrifice to let his child willingly walk into danger for the good of his country. He had raised her to be strong enough to bear this burden.
