Valdis gazed out the window watching the scenery go by, but she continued to listen to Sophia...even though she was struggling to keep awake. She glanced back over at her when she asked about Kasei.

"She was a girl from my old village; she happens to be indisposed like your friend."

Valdis didn't really elaborate more then that, and returned to looking out the window. Her mind was still on exactly what steps she should take next in order to help the group. She obviously needed to investigate that vision but what else? Perhaps she should look into paying the others some attention. Valdis looked over at Sophia... She still worried slightly how the girl was going to handle the burden she was given.


"Little Mouse, in the fallowing weeks you have an open invitation to my home. If the questions become to much think of it as a safe house. As for moving on... I made a promise to Granny to try to ... Help her with an issue. If successful I think it may bring you and others some hope....and perhaps you can help me as well. That taint I told you about... I need to find a way to cleanse it, if I can figure out the process perhaps reversing what has been done to the covenant members may be possible."

“I am sorry about you friend,” Sophia says. She feels like she had no right to be sad when Valdis seemed so composed despite so many tragedies.

“Thank you for the offer. I’ll probably come over a few times, but I should probably stay home for the next couple of days to keep my parents at ease.”

Sophia is interested about the personal project. She didn’t think Valdis would care about that sort of endeavor. “I saw Amarissa purify a newly turned youma last night. However, I think that was a special case. Luna said something about the girl still having an innocent soul.” She shakes her head a little, “Perhaps it has to do with how the soul is corrupted, but that girl didn’t die this time. She just turned back. Maybe how long they have been in the condition? I don’t know.”

“I would love to help, but I don’t really think I can do much. But if you like, I will try my best. I would be very happy if we could reverse the process. Even if we could only do it once. At least, we saved one of them… That sort of life seems very painful.”

”You should not feel sorry Little Mouse, I will have justice for her plight soon enough….and I have had many years to learn to accept it”

Valdis nodded to her plans, her offer like it had been with Nazo was an open invitation. She listened to her story about how Ama had purified someone who had recently been corrupted. She would record the girls findings when she got back home.

”Well…between that, and if I am able to cleanse myself then we may have hope…..Plus I really want to see Granny do a gloating dance…”

It was an off hand comment that would make no sense to little mouse but it made Valdis chuckle a bit. She looked back at Little Mouse and shrugged at the comment about the life being painful. Again it all depended on the person.

”There are people in this world that enjoy that pain, and they do find true enjoyment in bringing it to others. While it may be painful for some it’s not true for all.”

Valdis scratched the back of her head, she believed that the pawns of the covenant were possibly savable…higher up however….they weren’t human…Nazo told her that much. She really wondered if it was possible to change something that was born being dark….But such speculations shouldn’t be made at the moment. Soon the car pulled up to the gates to get into Sophias development.

”Would you like me to walk you to your door?”

Sophia looked at her trying to decipher that comment, but figures everything may make more sense when Valdis got more sleep.

“I guess some may like spreading misery, but I don’t think that is a common trait among people. If the Covenant had only those types of people, they would be a smaller, and perhaps, more manageable group. It seems terrible to say some people are beyond hope… redemption. Is there really a point of no return?” She figures there isn’t any easy answer to that though. “I choose to believe true evil does not exist. That there are people that could not do a single good act in their entire lives. That everyone is capable of feeling love for others and doing good.”

“However, it is getting hard to reconcile that belief with what has happened. I’ve never been this angry before. I’ve never hated someone before. I don’t like really like this. And I don’t want to feel this way. Honestly, I don’t want to hate him even though I suppose I should and do.”

As they get close, she straights up a little more. “No. It is fine. This probably isn’t the best of circumstances to meet my family.”
