Akio looks at the clock. Class was ending soon. It was time to present the assignment, and then let the children run into the halls like rabid animals. “Alright. It’s 10 minutes before the end of class, and you all have probably stopped listening to my lecture on early human civilizations. Because you will be subjected to this over and over again in whatever university attended, you should get used to doing group subjects. The first big project is describe some of a major civilization before Christianity. Go over what their daily life was like, their major achievements, their beliefs, a summary of their history. Anyways, 2 weeks from now, August 25th, you will make a poster and present these things to the class. I’ll let you choose your groups and the civilization. Just make sure the civilization interests you. Keep your group to about 3 people. In the last few minutes of class, find your group members and discuss the assignment.”

In the middle of the classroom, by the window, sat a silver haired girl in the standard school uniform. The only difference were the obvious purple accents announcing her as an Art student. At the moment though, she was in history class and studiously taking notes on their next assignment. So far, Amarissa had managed not to fall behind here. She was somewhat successfully juggling school and crime fighting, albeit not as well as she had hoped.

Muttering about how the superhero kids did it on tv, she sketched out a rough poster design in her notes. She was considering the Romans but supposed since it was a group thing, there would need to be a vote. Amarissa tossed her hair over her shoulder, having worn it down as usual (and really, she thought, she was pretty enough to be a model) and turned to her friends. "Anyone want to group with me on this? We could do the Romans maybe or Greeks?" she offered quietly.

As Ama asks if anyone would partner with her she would feel someone lightly thump her on the back. "I'll join" Kousuke says with a smile. Kousuke's grades had been mediocre before he had begun fighting crime now that there were three things in his life: basketball, school work and crime fighting the least important thing, school work, had been taking the hit. However he still needed to pass his classes so he could continue to play.

"Your grade are pretty good aren't they Ama? Please let me in I'm in real trouble in History...and English...and Japanese." He says. Though Kousuke having trouble in English was somewhat funny due to the fact he was fluent.

Akio Tanaka’s a pretty intimidating teacher in terms of appearance. History was normally one of her good subjects, but something about the teacher always made her feel like she was messing up even when she wasn’t. However, at least, he gave out a project instead of a test. Projects were always preferable to test in her opinions. You could go at your own pace after all.

Sophia glances at Ama’s doodles for a poster. “You’re a few steps ahead of all of us,” she giggles. “I’m also willing to join. I wouldn’t mind either, but I have a slight preference for the Greeks.”

It takes a while for Kousuke’s words to sink in. She looks at him, her head slightly tilted in confusion, “Huh? Your English seemed good though…”

Amarissa nods at Kousuke. "Great! and yes, my grades are pretty good except for the high B I have in math right now," she says in a somewhat disppointed tone. Sophia speaks up and she looks questioningly down at her note book. "I'm not that far ahead. It's a basic layout, no details yet," she says, offering the girl the paper. There was a poster shaped design, but nothing written anywhere except notes on due date and such. Smiling, she says "I like the Greeks too. And yes, I thought you were good in English Kou?" she adds.

Kousuke looks at Ama who said something about a high B being bad and blinks, he was like a straight C student on his better days, except in math where his grade was usually a B or an A. "I'm okay with whatever,I'm not so good at this though so just tell me what I need to." he says though when they ask him about English he blinks a couple of times and shrugs. "I can't write English very well I can only speak it so I do badly on most of the written tests." he explains.

Sophia nods. “Supposedly, for an English-speaker, Japanese is the hardest language to master, so the converse is probably true.” She smiles, “But I wouldn't worry. Since you can already speak it, I’m sure you’ll pick up writing eventually.” Having a natural eye and ear for languages, it seemed like a simple task to her.

“Why don’t we split up the work? We can each focus on one section. Except one person only has to two sections… The historical summary and major achievements will be pretty long, so whoever takes that only has to do that one. And the other people can take daily life and beliefs? Then we can meet up a few days before we present to put together the poster. How does that sound?”

Amarissa nodded at Sophia's suggestion. "That is fine with me. I'll offer to do the historical summary and major achievements," she says, already making a list of potentially helpful websites and a few books that would come in handy.

"What day, time and place would be good for you two to meet up? I can offer my house, if you want. My mother is rarely home but if she were, it would please her that I finally have friends," she added, laughing.
