It was Saturday. Her reports were in. And she logged too much time working with highly dangerous materials for her work to really continue to be rewarding. The message from Ash is pretty unexpected. However, a recent attack location was pretty interesting.

She makes her way down the location. The first thing she notices is the giant hole. And people were beginning to accumulate around the perimeter. This wasn’t something so easily cleaned up. She eventually sees her accomplice in the utterly decimated location. “These attacks are ramping up pretty quick. How many casualties this time?”

Medical Teams were evacuating a large number of civilians, with a few of the technicians confused on the large pile of unconscious bodies outside the building. Somebody had moved them all there, but nobody knew why or how. Shortly after Taika would arrive, an MP squad leader sees the scientists at the perimeter and approaches.

"Oh good...you guys got here fast. We found something that might be of interest at the bottom of the blast. If you would please follow." the MP says leading the pair past the scene of devastation and damage and the various investigators looking about the area. At the deepest part of the blast damage, they would see a blood spatter and a few pieces of what appeared to be partially cauterized flesh chunks and blood splatter around the area. The air would feel toxic, and there would be a feeling of unease in this location. A few pieces of torn black cloth would also be observable in the room.

"There was no loss of life but a lot of people unconscious but a lot of damage to the area. Which is just curious to me none the less I would consider it not too bad. But serious enough for us to look at" said Ashley as he saw Taika approach him and walking into the area. When she got close enough an MP comes up to them remarking that they got there pretty fast. "Please lead the way" he said and they were lead to the epicenter of the blast. The smell was bad and he brought a cloth to his mouth and coughed a few times. Not wanting to mess up the crime sceen by contaminating any evidence there. Once he got use to it, but it still stank of seared flesh and other foul odors. But that was the only bad thing, the upside was the fact that there was biological evidence left which meant to him and Taika stuff to research.

"Lets see here....well now there is a lot of biological evidence here" said Ashley and knew that Taika would collect samples of the biological evidence. He himself brought some evidence bags and some tools for collecting some physical evidence. Ashley takes out a blue tooth headset and puts it on as well as some gloves. Then turns to the MP that brought them there "Was this the only area that has something of interest? Or is this just it " he asked respectfuly to the MP. Ashley then walks over to the black cloth and opens a evidence bag that would hold all of the cloth.

“No casualties? Weird. You would think something like that,” Taika points to the giant hole, “there would be more loss of life.” The unconscious victims screamed Covenant, but normally these things ended with much more death.

As the head into the air, Taika stops and backs up a little. In a Convenant attack areas, you really shouldn’t just ignore toxic air. “What the hell guys? No gas masks? I guess it’s a little late now if we all wake up dead tomorrow… At least, I can run toxicology on my own blood now. Be my own subject. That’s cool. We do need someone in here to get air quality measures immediately before this dissipates.” She takes a deep breath and walks in. She would have preferred being able to breathe, but she was too interested in what they had to show to care much. However, in the back of her head she knows someone will get chewed out for them not handling the air situation appropriately.

As they get close to blood spatter and bits of flesh, she feels a little giddy. “Now, that is interesting.” She takes a camera from the bag to take some pictures to document the area. She takes from the bag a few gloves, a spray bottle, pen, paper, and collection tools. She starts collecting blood spatter and biological tissue. She labels the samples numerically before writing down on the paper, what the sample was and where it was taken. “So… where’s the rest of this guy? This isn’t nearly enough to account for all human being.”

"The scanners had no known toxic substance come up, it smells foul, but we can't leave this area unattended or disturb it until you lab guys get your data, we know the Director makes our lives miserable if we try to clean up before his minions like you get there." the MP Squad leader said to Taika's remark about the toxicity. The MP shrugs in response to Ashley's question about what happened here elsewhere.

"There was some kind of art show here...there are other projectile damage markers in some art pieces and walls, but nothing like this. Outside there seemed to be signs of a small scuffle, and there is a tree that's not iced over blooming right now, though we don't really know what to make of it. That's what you guys are for." he says, then turning and looking in the direction of the flesh pieces in response to Taika's inquiry about the 'rest of this guy'.

"There's no sign of remains past what is here. Possibly vaporized in an explosion. We're assuming it's Covenant related until otherwise, based on other recent incidents." the MP says, approaching the blast hole and standing outside of it, presumably to let the two carry on their work.

Ashley has a deadpan expression about the director "Ugh.....tell me about it, I have to deal with that man on a daily basis. We will try and be out of your hair as quickly as we can" he said and gets the rest of the black cloth into the evidence bags. This brought him into come contemplation on what else they had to look at. The tree was the more interesting thing that was mentioned and would be something to really look at once they were done here. He remembered what Taika said earlier and truepeople were hurt and being taken out on strechers and such. But they would live, recover, and get stronger. "So what about the samples you got? Are they in good condtion for you" Ashley said to Taika as he saw her take a few pictures before continuing to collect samples.

"Once we get done here, lets check out the tree the guy mentioned. That's just odd......it might be something with the Covenant, as the might be using something new to strike at us when our guard is down" Ashley said as he was deeply curious on why that tree was there and blooming of all things.

“The explosion was recent, so this will suit my needs just find. The tissue samples are better than the blood spatter, but I have both. And I got documentation of the area,” Taika responds to Ashley, finally looking up.

She takes a look at the hole and then the tissue samples and fabric, “Vaporized… No casualties… vaporized unknown person…” This was strange. “But his fabric remains. And there is liquid blood spatter. And their tissue, while having terrible burn injuries, isn’t that level of incinerated.”

“You know… only a nuclear weapon can just make some go poof into a puff of smoke. Cremation takes at least 45 minutes at some very high temperatures. If something had that much power…”

That was a very horrifying thought. Something had the power to destroy the whole city, but didn't. She shakes her head. “No. There should be badly burnt corpse here. Was there any tampering with the scene?”

One of the pieces of flesh that had not been collected begins to move...flesh stretches out and forms a few 'limbs' which are closer to tentacles. It senses a presence nearby in Taika, and begins to crawl along the ground towards her, moving slowly inch by inch...

Meanwhile, the MP outside the room sounded mildly annoyed at the fact that Taika was asking if there was tampering.

"I told you, we didn't do a thing in here due to your nutty professor boss." he grumbles, out then, raising his head. Ashley and Taika would hear a confused tone of voice come from the MP.

"You guys sent two teams? There's already a pair of you guys in there.."

If Ashley and Taika look outside, they would see a pair of lower doctors who were almost obsessively loyal to the Director. The brown-nosing kind, Dr. Tokisa and Dr. Hiroyama stood in full haz-mat gear with a large loadout of analytical equipment, prepared to go in, though Taika and Ashley had not yet been noticed.

"My theory is growing then....with magic acting in a similar strength to nuclear energy. If this were nuclear energy there should have been EMP effect on most of the electronical devices in the area" said Ashley and looks around at the damage in the area. He laughed a bit when she said if the area was tampered with. "If there was tampering Taika it happened way before we got here. Or a black ops squad came in here and took care of that problem" he said in a low tone to his partner. As he did there was something that cought his attention and alarmed him piece of the burnt flesh was still alive and coming towards Taika. But kept calm and reached into his pocket for one of his combat blades and adjusts the length to a knife size. He takes it out and taps the end of it and extends, he swiftly moves and stabs the flesh with the blade. "Do you have containmet container on you right now" he said and was holding the knife blade away from his body.

He then hears the MP with the remark of two teams being sent, Ashley looks over and curses. As it was two brown nosers that were insanely loyal to the director. And both of them dressed in full hazmat suits, plus several instruments. For the most part Ashley was unsure on what to do since if they were dressed in full gear. But they did not see them, he was alarmed that he did put into documentation that he would be at the seen with Taika. Since he was following the chain of evidence so there would not be issues with command. "Hurry it up we got problems" he said and wanted to get things put away and get away with there samples. Without too many questions from others such as the two suck ups as the two other doctors.

Taika sees the piece of flesh, moving. She stares at it, half wondering whether it was real or wondering if the foul gas was a hallucinogen. The idea that she was losing sanity would make it more reasonable how people could be calm about a nuclear bomb had gone off. However, Ash seems to see it too, and stabs it. That was no way to treat something so valuable.

“Ummm… I think I’ll just put it in a screw cap bottle and then into 2 sealed bags,” she says. She takes a pair of tweezers to put the piece of flesh in order to do just as she said. “Hmmm… or maybe, our corpse just walked away after the explosion,” she says looking at the living tissue. Somehow the idea of immortal beings bothered her less than gods of destruction.

She takes a quick peek outside as Ash says to hurry. Unfriendly faces who follow safety protocols… She packs up everything as quickly as she can. “Alright, ready to go.” She looks for an exit other than one they came in from while following the wall opposite to the door that they entered. Normally, all large rooms of a certain capacity had numerous exits, and many times they were opposite to each other. Humans were creature of routine and habit; the real team would likely be lead through a similar path as them. So if they could get to an opposite wing of the university that would be infinitely preferable.

The room was half-destroyed with debris all about. Chunks of the ceiling were lose and prone to falling if enough force was used to. A window heavily covered by debris could be seen, but the debris was smaller. The edge of a door frame could be seen mostly covered by a large slab of roofing and wall that had fallen. But the act of getting through would be difficult with subtlety.

The two scientists would hear something outside though.

"Look, I don't care who you are or the crazy scientist you're working with, I'm going to need to see your full military issued credentials. Get your asses to the command tent before I have you detained." the MP that Taika and Ashley originally met said, and moments later, the two lab rats sent by Matou begin to be escorted away...leaving a perhaps too opportune chance for Taika and Ashley to react accordingly.

“Alright, I guess it’s safe for us to leave. Let’s dart?” Taika says quiet enough for just Ash to hear. She walks out of the exhibit from their original entrance. Her pace is sort of a hurried walk, like someone who was merely busy, not fleeing after stealing evidence.

She avoids the command tent, leaving as much room between her and it as possible. As soon as she gets within safe enough distance, she starts to laugh. “Fun times. Do you think we have enough time to check out the blooming tree? Or should we run back to the lab and find what's up with Wiggles the Flesh? I wonder if there are more moving bits of tissue around Tokyo..."

Ashley agreed with the woman and just casualy walked out of the entrance that they came out. Not wanting to get attention and was now with Taika. "I am curious on the tree myself. Lets take a quick look. And get our samples back to the lab. Honestly its up to you, since your the expert on biology. It was a shame there was no tech from the enemy for me to look at" he sighed slightly and was going to look into how these guys were sent in. Then check to see if they were in the clear on being there. None the less, Ashley felt something was off with all of this.

Taika walks in the direction of the tree. She figures their discovery is worth more than any tech that they could have found. “Tech… I can’t imagine you get too much of that sort of thing left behind. We’re pretty lucky to get the stuff we did. What kind of weapon do you imagine caused that hole though?”

As she gets toward the tree, she stops and stands by it quietly. It had been awhile since she saw a tree in bloom outside of a greenhouse. She wanted to commit it to memory in case it never happened again. She then proceeds to take out a few bags. Snapping off a few stems and flowers, she places them in the bags. However, she’s careful not to cause too much damage to the tree. Such a thing was to too beautiful to injure.
