The sign-ups for clubs are extremely busy. Sophia starts to wonder if the whole student body managed to cram themselves in these few hallways. As for the list of student organizations, it is pretty vast. Some interest her, some don’t. However, the ones in the former category were a bit too numerous. She realizes that she should probably limit it down to about 3 or so.

Sophia quickly signs up for the Community Service club, Show Choir, and Drama club. After that, she is about to leave the area of swarming students when a table at the end of all the chaos catches her eye. She almost walks right by it. “Paranormal club?” she says. She can’t imagine what that even does. She stands in front of the table looking at the sign. “So what do you guys do?” she says with a curious expression. With magic and monsters existing, maybe these people were onto something after all.

Val strolls out of the class, answering questions from a new mob of students. Along with signing a few autographs before extravagantly excusing herself. She broke away from the crowed and glided down the hall. Easily parting the sea of people, she really wasn’t interested in clubs. She didn’t have any free time for them, between her career and miko duties she was jammed pack. Valdis paused when she saw little mouse in front of the Paranormal set up. She knew this group quite well.

”They do a lot of ghost hunting, research on demons, and odd things in general. Most of the club from what I see are miko’s from the shrine…or well these clubbies end up becoming mikos at the local shrine. Granny happens to be a living history book of what their clubs into.”

She looked down at the list of current club members and blinked….and grabbed the sheet of paper…

”…..Why the hell is my name on this list….”

Her eye twitched…

“Well, it could be fun,” Sophia says as she signs herself up for the club. “I can make room for four clubs… maybe.” Hopefully, it would give her a better understanding of what she was fighting. If she was lucky, maybe she could reverse some of the damage done to the Covenant members. She was still interested in saving the ones that could be saved. In her mind, wiping out a major population of people even if tainted still sounded tragic.

“Well, it looks like we can spend more time ghost hunting after the sleepover… So how did you become a surprise member? Do they sign up everyone who works at the shrine?” she asks as Valdis seems shocked over her name in member roster. “Or do you believe in ghosts and demons and things?” she wonders. Valdis lived in a haunted mansion and hadn’t died, so that would seed doubt in most people’s minds. However, Valdis was there at youma fight. And somehow wasn’t drawn into the song. So maybe she knew more about the paranormal than just games with Ouija boards…

Two girls sat in front of the paranormal booth, chatting excitedly over an old book laid out in one of their laps. One female had short fawn brown hair cut close to her chin and large brown eyes, the other had long black hair neatly braided with similar large brown eyes. They both looked up when a girl approached there club.

”HELLO THERE!”

They both simultaneously spoke and got up at the same time. The brown hair girl began to answer the girls question when non other then the purple demoness showed up. The one with the black hair frowned at the ‘nickname’ the dark one had given their teacher.

”You shouldn’t speak of Rei-sama in such a way; I don’t know why sh……”

The girls paled as the demoness noticed there ploy to gain more support for their club. Instantly both girls had ofudas out and ready and were backing up getting ready to face the girl’s wrath.

”STAY BACK DEMONESS!”

The brown haired one shouted and looked to be in a panic and in her panic slapped an ofuda smack dab on the dark ones forehead. The black haired one who was actually looked to be relatively calm until that point’s face blanked. Slowly she edged away from the other girl, and went to go stand by the potential new member. Seeing how Valdis was going to be busy with her other half she went to talk to the new one.

”My name is Botan, and she’s Momiji. Like the Dark one said we do investigating the paranormal. There are other things in this world that others can’t explain. No we don’t sign up anyone who works at the shrine…mainly because we are the only ones at the shrine that are still in high school….The dark one was signed up mainly because she’s a study subject…plus we thought her name would attract other members. If you do join though we do hold club meetings at the shrine.”

She blinked when Momiji let out a squeak and collapsed in a faint with the dark one standing over her…

Ohhhhh these girls were starting to get on her nerves. They skirted around her like scared geese at the shrine, and then puffed up their feathers whenever their precious teacher was nearby. In what world did they think they’d get away with putting her name on the roster list? Now they were threatening her with ofudas; she took a step forward, a familiar energy welling up within her. As soon as she did, SLAP, one of the damn things was stuck to her forehead. It didn’t pack the punch that Grannys did but it still stung. Valdis slowly peeled the annoying paper from her head; tossing it behind her. She leaned in close to Momiji, trailing a finger along her chin.

”Granny said I wasn’t to torture fellow miko’s whilst on the shrine grounds….she said nothing about school grounds.”

She flashed a grin, a dangerous gleam was in her eyes; her voice was low and husky the tone carrying more of the threat then the words….and out with a squeak. Valdis let the girl fall to the floor, her face going back to a cool mask as she stepped over the girls unconscious form. She approached Botan…the backbone of the two.

”I may be your unwilling member but take my name off the list unless you wish to face legal charges, my agency would not approve of using my name to solicit club members. Is that understood?”

Vals attention was diverted as little mouse asked her a question.

”I very much believe in ghosts and demons and such. Too much goes unexplained in this world not to believe it.”

Sophia laughs a little at the exchange between the Mikos and Valdis until Momiji fell on the floor. She tries to help the fallen girl into a chair, and pulls out a water bottle for when Momiji comes around. She couldn’t figure out the terrors that the girl believed Valdis would inflict. Valdis was occasionally rude and possibly paranormal, but demonic? That may have been pushing it as far as she had seen. However, who was she to say who was a demon and who was not?

“Alright, when is the first meeting and how often do you meet? What sort of cases do you take?” Sophia asks Botan. “However, I can’t say I condone attempting to stick ofuda to Valdis’ head every time she speaks. I think there may be less fainting that way. Is there a reason that you need to study her though?” She picks up the fallen ofuda and puts in a side pocket of her backpack. No reason that she shouldn’t bring it the Valdis’ slumber party. While it couldn’t ward of Valdis, maybe it would actually ward off demons.

”Seeing how those two are the only ones in the club there meetings are almost 24/7, only time I associate with them is at the shrine when Granny makes me play nice”

Although the victim had been her she did give the double dose of giddy gits credit for a credible idea. She glanced over at the tables around her; signing up people for random clubs seemed like an interesting idea. So while little mouse was tending to her victim she went and wrote down a few people’s names on random signup sheets. One of her unlucky victims happened to be Yuki, signed up for the math brigade. Satisfied with her work Valdis rejoined the little group before she was missed. Just in time to notice little mouse shoved an ofuda into her bag.

”You should swing by grannies, I can tell you that one doesn’t really pack much of a punch…more like a static shock then anything…grannies sting like a bitch”

When Momiji came to the nice girl was helping her to a chair, she sat down still eyeing the demoness… A danger to her peace of mind and pure soul.

”Thank you”

Botan had already gotten some water for Momiji and handed it to her; this seemed to be becoming an common occurrence. The dark one would freak Momiji out and then she’d faint. Botan then turned to the girl whom seemed to be on talking terms with Valdis which was odd…cause she seemed normal.

”We will hold meetings every Thursday afternoon at the shrine. Though we are usually there every afternoon for shrine duites. As for the cases we’re sent on house calls for Rei sama, if there is something like a haunting in an old attic we’re sent to investigate it. If we can take care of it with our training we do, or we report to Rei sama who can take care of such things like that.”

Momiji seemed to perk up at the mention of Rei.

”Rei sama is amazing! She can sense things like how tainted you are, she can dispel evil energies, and I’m positive she can predict things using fire. She’s the strongest priestess you’ll ever meet! There is no evil she can’t dispel!”

At that last comment Momiji shot a glare at an innocent looking Valdis. While Botan also gave a wary glance. Botan decided to answer the girls question about why Valdis needed to be watched.

”Rei sama said to be wary….If Rei sama says be wary obviously she has sensed something within that one….”

Sophia looks a little sad at the hostility that Botan and Momiji had toward Valdis. “Valdis isn’t that bad… At least, I don’t believe she is. She’s just a little… standoffish. However, in her defense, I think most people would if they were worried about being attack with ofuda. Besides, she is working at the shrine with you guys; all this animosity can’t be good for that.” Shrines were supposed to be a place of positivity and purity, and that hardly seemed like a place for bickering and distrust to Sophia.

Hearing about Priestess Rei’s abilities definitely intrigued her. Sensing how tainted someone was… dispelling evil… those sounded like useful abilities to her. I mean, if Sailor Moon had purification abilities, perhaps others did too. “I will definitely be there this Thursday. Will Priestess Rei be there as well? I would definitely like to meet her.”

There was one burning question in her mind. Her expression becomes a little shy. “I also had sort of an odd question. Could she remove taint or corruption from another person too?” she asks. Maybe there was hope for the tainted and corrupted people that the Covenant had changed…

Kail had tried to wander through most of the commotion at the club sign ups area. He did his best to get through until he spotted both Valdis as well as Sophia. The red head watches a bit from a distance and saw the hilarious goings on there. Which made him chuckle a bit but came over. "Well Sophia looks like your doing well" he said greeting her. And then turns to Val "Real charming I am guessing" he said lightly teasing the celebrity.

"Where can I sign up? I have had a mild intrest in the paranormal" Kail asked Momiji and Boton on the matter. Due to what was happening in his life. Knowing more would give him a better edge on the matter. Since he was going to kill real supernatural horrors and monsters. The young man wondered if there were any other guys signing up for this club.

Valdis shrugged she could care less about animosity or whether the gits liked her or not. Ofudas were an annoyance but she could live with it.

”No they have every right to fear me…There prime targets, gullible, jumpy, and quick to jump to conclusions. Its why granny has me on a tight leash otherwise these two would be having a mental break down after I was done with them. Especially Momiji here, her face just screams torment me”

A very creepy smile was on Valdis’s face as she looked over at the recovering Momiji.

”As for the shrine ground I work mostly with granny which is another reason why these two are jumpy. So yes Granny will be there…supervising. As for removing taint yes she can….another thing that burns like a bitch”

Val went off mumbling to herself about ofuda, pools, and boob shaking and something about a freaking squid man. That was until another familiar face joined them. She grinned when asked if she was being charming, she leaned up against him and batted her eyelashes.

”Of course, I’m always charming in my own special way. Soo how do you know little mouse.”

She casually reached up and stole his glasses, putting them on herself then blinking…

”Wow your blind as a bat”

Momiji then suddenly went serious looking at the girl with a raised eyebrow. This girl was more trustful then them…saying Valdis wasn’t that bad was like saying a rabid raccoon was as safe as a bunny.

”She actually gets stung by Ofuda!…that’s proof enough that she’s evil! Seriously if a normal person touches an ofuda they don’t feel anything it’s just a bit of paper with writing on it. But slap it on something that dabbles in the supernatural dark side then BAM! It’s like getting hit with a flame thrower. ”

She looked over at Val, convinced she was a demoness in disguise or worse a dark priestess. She certainly fit the part….

”That and the other day I caught her in the Gehobako playing with the human skulls….she was having a tea party with them…”

Her eye was twitching as she seemed to relive the traumatic moment. Botan was just nodding…that had been a traumatic moment even for her. There was something not right with that girl. Both of them looked up when a rather handsome man came up to their booth. Then asked where to sign up, both of them blushed and then looked at each other and broke into a side huddle and began to whisper to each other.

”Is it allowed?” Momiji asked.

”I don’t know…we shrine maidens are suppose to up hold our purity, we work closely in the club I don’t know if Rei sama would approve with working so closely with a man who wasn’t pledged as a geki.”

Momiji frowned and then glanced over at the red head and pouted a bit.

”But none of the Gekis are that cute…”

Botan sighed and also looked over then nodded to Momiji fully agreeing with her.

”Well…club meetings would be supervised….soo I suppose it wouldn’t be against the rules.”
With a grin they both came back and grabbed the sign up sheets to hand it to him.

”Welcome to the cl….”

Both girls eyes bugged out to see Valdis snuggling up to him and stealing his glasses. Horrified expressions on there faces.

”VALDIS!”

They both chorused and yanked her away and literally over the sign up tables and proceeded to lecture her about a maidens purity and ect.

Sophia gets the sense that trying to prove Valdis wasn’t evil wasn’t going to work with these two. Valdis, in particular, did not seem to be helping, but she seemed to enjoy having others think negatively of her for whatever reason. She sort of shakes her head at the two mikos, “She is my friend though. And even she can be mean sometimes, but I don’t think people are evil. That’s a pretty heavy term for just an individual after all…”

When Valdis mentions purifying taint and corruption, Sophia is filled with all sorts of questions. Though, she never gets a chance to ask them when Kail comes around. “Hey. Good to see you again.” She is glad to see that he is doing well after the youma battle, not that he seemed hurt then, but still. However, it felt strange to her for her to know his superhero activities, but not have him know hers. Under her normal exuberance, there is some slight uneasiness. “Kail, I didn’t expect to see you in this area. I am guessing that they have you teaching a class?”

She turns to Valdis to answer her question, “We met on a trail out of Shibuya.” She can’t help but chuckle when Valdis takes his glasses. “I already signed up. And Valdis was sort of signed up. Botan and Momiji have been incredibly welcoming, but it is always fun to know a few people in a club already.” She makes a side glance at the mikos. “And you told me that you didn’t get any attention… So looking for material for another novel?” Working with blushing mikos fighting the paranormal seemed like good enough inspiration for another supernatural book or a romance.

Kail rubbed the back of his head a few time surprised that he was attractive to the ladies. Since he saw the two miko's in training get into a huddle and converse while blushing. Then he hears Sophia speaking to him "Well I did not plan on it for a book. But it does sound like a good idea. I was just taking a bit more intrest with the rise of attack lately by the Covenant." he said then turned to Valdis after she swiped his glasses from his face.

"I struck up a conversation with Sophia on my way home on the train. I bought several books that were written in English then in japanise " he said answering her question. On Kail's face there was a look of annoyance. Since he felt pretty blind without his glasses on. He was about to ask for his glasses back but then the two miko's dragged her over the table. There was a eye twich that was starting with his right eye.

"Excuse me ladies may I have my glasses back please. It makes me slightly angry when I can't see" his tone was pleasant but it was heavily icy. He did not want to make people afraid of him. But he could not see a damn thing in front of his face. Everything was a blur to him of colors and shapes.

”They skulls needed to air out….and were thirsty you’d be to if you were stuck in a cramped box all the time.”

She rolled her eyes when the two went to talk amongst themselves and make goo goo eyes at big red. Seriously he was a male what was the big deal; she supposed he was cute but it was nothing to lose ones head over was it? Then again she was around males which were idols regularly for her work. Guess she wasn’t made giddy as easily as others. She looked Kail over up and down then shrugged and turned back to the miko’s.

”If your making me join, he’s joining, he comes with the Valdis package. So you might as well say yes”

Valdis eyes bugged out when she was suddenly yanked across the table, her hands instantly went down to make sure her skirt didn’t fly up, but the cost of modesty was she fell flat on her back on the floor on the other side of the table.

”Ouch..”

Valdis glances at Sophia with a quirked eyebrow from behind the stolen glasses. Friend? When did that happen….She shrugged it off and accepted it as it was. She was completely ignoring the miko’s lecture on purity. Which they seemed to be oblivious to. She turned back to the babbling double; now getting annoyed by their jabber. She held up a hand stopping them in mid sentence. Ignoring their confused looks Val looked over at Sophia when she gave her explanation on how she knew Kail along with his own explanation. Though the fact they were talking about the rise of the covenant attacks so casually made her curious. Since the government was doing a fairly large hush hush on the whole thing to avoid panic. She watched for Sophias reaction to the statement.

Valdis chuckled at the annoyed look on Kails face and stood up brushing herself off. She hopped up on the table and swung her long slender legs over to the other side, and removed the glasses from her face and placed them back on to Kails.

”Aren’t you adorable when you get annoyed, I’ll have to make a game of this”

She grinned up at him and grabbed his and Sophias hands, towing them away from the booth and away from the other two…she only could take so much of them.
”So Kail, back to little mouse’s question, what did bring you to the high school wing of the campus? Did you miss me that much?”
