”We didn’t see her die just captured. But it’s easy to assume. I’m sure I’ll find her lurking around back at the work place in the morning”
Well apparently Kails honor was the end zone; it was good to know. That and it spoke a lot for the type of person he was. Val slightly twitched when Kails mom got a little to comfortable using the Ito part of her name.

”Mortimers fine and I thank you for your hospitality”

When questioned about whether her house would be put under suspicion she just shrugged. It was possible but not likely.

”Daddy usually doesn’t worry until the second night. It’s not the first time I’ve been stuck without a way home. He trusts that I can take care of myself “

Valdis turned to fallow Kail, they still had some things they needed to discuss. Things that she wasn’t about to say in public. After all she knew his secret, he should probably know hers.

Kail leads Valdis to where the guestroom was on the second floor of the home. "Here is your room, the sheets were washed yesterday so there nice and clean. I am going to see if I have any old clothes you can use to wear for bed" he said trying to be hospitable as he could since he just wanted to strangel the younger lady. But knew he was stressed so for now he was going to keep it together for a bit long. The guest room had a dresser, a desk, the bed was a normal western styled bed and had light blue bed sheets with a nice blanket. The paint job in the room was done off bluish white color in all for a relaxing feeling . "Before I forget my room is across the hall and the bathroom is down the hall" he said and goes into his room and places his coat on his chair that was by his desk. Not bothering to close his door and goes into his dresser and looks down in one of the lower droors and ramages around.

If Valdis takes a look inside his room she would see a lot of things. Kail's desk was a very nice writing desk that had a high end laptop and next to it was a tablet device charging up. There would be a few photos one was a slightly younger Kail with his currant mother and father with Aya in his arms. Another one was Kail and what looked like several of his older friends from a cosplay event. The picture though had Kail with a big old grin on his face. The last one was him in full kendo gear holding a award of some sort with his team. The last one there was a photo of a very younger Kail with two people. One was a red haired male that was a big man that would be easily spotted as Kail's biological father. The other was a extremely beautiful woman with dark colored hair that could have been of greek or roman decent. This would be easily his mother as she was holding on to the younger Kail.

On the wall above Kail's desk was a samurai daisho set on a rack and they were not fake. From the desk there was Kail's bed it was also a western styled bed and had dark red sheets and a blanket that was colored black. And from there was Kail's dresser it was made out of a dark wood to go with the rest of the room. On top of the dresser was a flat screen TV with a PS 5 hooked up to the TV. And right next to the dresser was Kail's closet that was closed. "Valdis, what do you prefer shorts or sweats" he asked. As Aya dashed in and jumped on the bed and got comfortable.

Did they have guests often? Odd timing to randomly clean sheets. She glanced around the room, it was nice, not much bigger then her closet but nice. She unzipped her red leather jacket and peeled it off, and then she slipped off a white lacy white shirt to reveal a black spaghetti strapped shirt underneath. Her arms bare showed that she actually had well toned muscles. Just a preview to how the rest of her body must be.

After she sauntered over into his room, leaning against the door way with her arms crossed underneath her breasts. His room seemed to fit him well, ironically they were in his knight colors as well.

”Either one is fine, thank you”

She stepped into the room pulling the door shut behind her. Calmly walking over to his desk where his daisho was, leaning over to examine it.

”I realize the job I’m asking you is a bit difficult and I did mention there was another couple of things I needed to mention…are these real?”

Valdis calmly lifted the smallest one and unsheathed it. Before Kail would be able to stop her she ran it along her arm creating a gash that cut deep into the muscle; wincing slightly as the blade cut into her flesh. She held her wrist higher as the blood dribbled down her arm.

”First things first…”

It wasn’t very long until small bits of steam began to rise from the cut, the steam grew stronger as the muscle rapidly knit itself back together. Wasn’t long until skin covered the wound, leaving nothing but fresh pink skin in its place.

”…..You know if I was an Emo this would be really depressing….But as you can see that’s my little twist….an ability that is rather recent. I found out while getting a beating from that first youma. So your job in protecting me is a bit easier…and harder. Like your secret I can’t let this be found out. But it also means I can take a beating better than most. “

She cleaned the blade off on her shirt, no point in letting blood stain the blade. Though she had done it quick enough that there was hardly a spot on it. But out of respect she made sure it was clean before sheathing it and placing it back on its stand.

Kail nods and sets a few things on his bed for Valdis as he hears her walk into his room. But as he was in his own world until she spoke "Eh....more then likely it is. No offence to you but your personality at times makes the job harder." he said saying the honest truth. Then Valdis asked him if something were real "Well yeah I got them on my 18th birthday.....why.....do you.....ask...." he said getting up. His voice trailed off as he sees Valdis take the wakazashi and then cut her arm. He was about to yell at what she was doing, that was until he saw the fast regeneration and that just made him flabbergasted. Since Kail was not even ready for a showing like this. He wanted to yell, cry, or even slice something apart, because his sensory imput was getting overloaded. Do to all of the stuff that went down today and was getting sick of it.

"Ok.....so we have you, that has the power to heal and other such powers. Being targeted by monsters and the undead....has my life turned into a F$%*@#$% clichéd anime here" he said looking irate but not the point of yelling or raising his voice. No his frustration was real and was nearing his whits end with her. "Kami-sama.....I have never been this furious in my entire life" he said moving to his bed and sitting down. Kail had placed his glasses on his disk while holding his face with both of his hands. Even the redhead was just also thinking why that he never had this level of rage just come up like this. Overall Kail was just a normal guy now realizing his reality has been torn asunder. Aya his trusted pet got up and padded over to him and brushed up against him. Feeling bad that her master was upset and not his normal self. She looked over at Valdis and almost gave a glare. As its eyes shifted from pet like to wild and then back again.

She broke him…that look on his face it was defiantly a sign that she had just overloaded his brain and he broke. Honestly she had the same reaction on her first day; she just patted him on the shoulder.

”Undead? While that would be awesome hasn’t happened yet.”

She probably wasn’t helping.

”I had kind of the same reaction when I first found out only mine was more of the oh shit we’re screwed reaction. Then Nazo more or less said I would be useless if I remained broken”

She took a seat next to him on the bed; she wasn’t sure how much he knew of his situation yet and she was one to make sure to dump all the news at once instead of little bits….like a band aid being ripped off. Had to be fast.

”Look at it this way, in this anime there are big baddies trying to destroy this earth and you have been given the ability to fight back when others have no hope. While that’s unfortunate for your personal life I’m sure you will get a sense of accomplishment and purpose most spend their entire lives searching for. No matter what you do from this point on you’ve already made a difference.”

She made a funny face at the fox, successfully breaking her momentary attempt at kindness.

"Its more like that since I write fiction and now in some degree that the fiction is becoming reality. Its causing my sense of reality be really really off balance. I don't know if you can understand what I am saying" said Kail as he let out a tired sigh from his mouth and turns to Valdis. Since at the moment she was the only person that knew about his identity. He looks at the blood stained shirt and looks at Valdis "Why don't you go take a bath since it might make you feel a bit better. The clothes are right there....I just need a bit of space" he said since his mind had took to much info into his mind and blew it up into bits.

"Either way, I don't know why I was given this power but I will put it to good use. I just hope I can give people some hope for the future" he said knowing that he did make a diffrance but for now he needed the rest.

”I do and my response to it is So? Roll with it, reality is over rated anyways. If you don’t it’s likely to drive you insane”

She giggled; it was questionable whether she had already lost her sanity…which was completely possible. But whether she was sane or not didn’t matter, at least she had fun and found amusement even in the darkest of circumstances. Life was just so much better when you lived it like the insane bastard you were meant to be. Valdis gathered up the clothes, it would be nice to have a bath so she would take him up on that offer. However when he spoke about hoping to bring hope to others she whacked him upside the head.

”Wrong answer, your job isn’t to hope to bring hope it’s to know you’ll bring hope. There’s a difference. Confidence is the first step to succeeding.”

She smiled and winked at him before walking out the bedroom door.

”Come join me if you wish”

Valdis laughed as she walked away with an extra swing in her hips; she very well knew he wouldn’t take her up on the offer, it was just fun to tease.

"Whatever........" said Kail as he got smacked upside the head by Valdis and saw her sashay out of the room and had a sigh of relieve as she left. He closed the door so he could have some privacy and Kail changed into some casual clothes. Shorts and a long sleeve shirt and he opened the door again and got a drink from the fridge and went back to his room. He then pulled out a notebook from his desk and a pencil and started to think a bit. Kail sits down and lays back on his bed and against his pillows. The redhead got an idea and started to write something, it seemed like a beginning of a story of some sort. "Ugh......that woman is going to make me go loony sooner or later. Me and my sense of honor......I can't turn down someone is in trouble. Nnnnoooooo I had to be the nice guy and help her out. Even then why I am I being so damn moody, Was this from those powers I got" he thought and just let it be on the back burner for now.

So far Killian had written up several pages as Valdis would be away trying to take comfort in the fact that there was some silence and peace. Giving the Knight of Mars time to calm down and just decompress from Valdis. His new charge in a sense since he was going to look after her until whenever the Covenant attack would be over. None the less he was calmer now since he put his focus on something else. Kail had hoped that Valdis would not try anything else that evening.

The bath was nice; she needed it, the steam helping her throat and overall temperament. After a good long soak she dried off and changed into the clothes Kail gave her. They were large on her small frame but snug in all the right places. She braided her hair and clipped it off with the silver skull pin that she had in her hair before. She folded her clothes and as habit was quietly exited the bathroom with them in hand. Valdis walked to the guest room and laid them down before traveling back to Kail room.

Val smiled when she noticed he was engrossed in writing, being who she was she couldn’t help herself. Quiet as a mouse she crept over crouching when she got to the bed so she was elbow level. Years of creeping around her father’s office and sneaking up on people had taught her the ability to sneak up on someone barely noticeable.

”Soo watcha writing. “

Valdis grinned up at him, now that she had the medical mask off he could see that she had an impish smile, with light full pink lips.

Kail had became so focused that he did not realize Valdis came in until she spoke and was thankful that he was not writing. Killian slightly shook in surprise "I had something planed but I had nothing to spark it. Until today that is" he said and looked up at Valdis while not missing a beat. She was pretty yes, but the personality was totally the opposite of her appearance. He saw the grin and imagined that she had devil horns and a tail. "There would be plenty of guys that would kill to be where I am at right now. If they only knew what kind of madness you spread to people" he said and reached over and pulls something off of his desk and hands a notebook to Valdis.

"Here is something that you might like, Since I can tell and know you like horror this story might be up your ally" Kail said and gives it to Valdis. It was titled The Devourer Of Names. The title was simple and yet funny but it would disarm the reader on first glance. "Back to what I am writing, Its a take on the Tales of the Water Margin. I think there was a videogame series called Suikoden where you had to find the 108 stars of destiny. Either way my story is going to have something similar to that. There are going to be a lot of themes to this so its going to be a challange" he said to Valdis as he

She pouted she had been hoping for something a little more…dramatic. He hardly jumped at all…that wasn’t fun at all. Though she giggled at the word spark….

”Ironic choice of words.”

She raised an eyebrow at him as she leaned on the bed resting her chin on her arms.

”Funny my Dad says something similar, about the madness. But you learn to love it and me along with it. After all I’m entertaining at the very least. Just roll with it, that’s my best advice for you. Daddy hasn’t learn that lesson yet…its why he’s graying.”

She blinked as the book was handed to her, casually taking it and flipping it open. It was an easy mistake to assume she liked horror…She did and she didn’t…It really depended on the type. She like more of the physiological thrillers, not so much the blood and gore ones. But she would give the book a chance. As she leafed threw the book she also listened to Kail.

”Ya those names are meaningless to me, I didn’t have the time to play video games growing up. It was my career, school, etiquette classes, music classes, a crash course in Japanese culture….basically training to be the puppet face of Japan. Presidents daughter expected to uphold tradition and ideal Japanese customs even if she’s a bastard child bla bla bla and all that nonsense.”

She continued to flip through the pages, but that little speech defiantly gave insight to why she preferred to use the name Mortimer.

”Explain the plot clearer, I’m curious”

Kail frowned slightly when she mentioned that she did not have time to be a kid. That did suck and felt a bit of pity towards Valdis on that matter but she did not seem the type to take pity from others. He looked at her when she wanted a better explanation on what he was writing "Ok.....the main character encounters a woman in this case by a group of armored demons armed to the teeth. Being the normal hero and main character he goes in blindly to save the woman. It then starts a chain of events that have him gather 108 people of destiny to fight a coming evil. The characters will travel through several lands. And deal with situations ranging from political to those of love. I am sure you get why that events of today inspired me" he said and puts down the note book and watches Valdis flip through the notebook.

"Do you want me to give a summery of that story or would you like to find out on your own. If you have problems reading that I can get it in an language that you can read. Since I write most of my stories in English since its my native language. Then translate them into Japanise for most of my readers here in japan" he said trying to be helpful to her since she was just flipping through it.

”It sounds like it has some potential, but it also sounds like you’ll have to have a lot of characters to develop personalities for. Are there just a select few that your going to be focusing on? Or are you attempting all 108?”

The book sounded like it could have quite a bit of potential, but all 108 characters would be a bit ….tedious to read. Valdis looked up when he asked if she wanted a translated version, she really wasn’t having any trouble with it.

”I can read English just fine, in Transylvania people spoke both Romanian and English for tourists. When I was brought over to Japan Father found it important I continue the study of the language. ”

Even if it looked like she was flipping threw it Valdis was actually reading. She wasn’t as fast as she was with music sheets but she was still pretty fast. Really she was just seeing if this would be an interesting read for her, if it was she’d take her time with it.

"Not sure its themed off of it but its something I can modify if I don't go heavy into it. Or if I do, I might issue something on my site as a challenge and have my readers send in characters. Like I don't know maybe twenty characters made by my fans. Either way its going to be something good. I am going to write this and turn it in as my final project for collage" he said while Valdis was skiming the story he let her read. But then hears that she had a good grasp of reading English, well he was trying to be nice at least for her. None the less he went back to writing the story he was trying to make.

As Valdis skimmed through the story, she would find out that it was a horror story the was centered around a Word Eater. It would slowly eat away at a word until it did not even exsist in reality. And if it was used on someone they would be gone as if they were never there in reality. The start of it though was a guy doing something online and it accidently caused the Word Eater to awaken. There would be no gore or bodies being eaten from what was written so far at least. "Do you want me to get you anything" Kail asked Valdis as he had drained his cup of whatever he was drinking.
